If any of you guys wanna do a desert run we will be in Barstow on Feb 28th-29th. A decent sized group of us is headed out there to send off one of our buddies going into the military.

are the big bear trails covered in snow? most importantly the john bull trail? i really want to do a run once my car is together again and big bear sounds fun.

...I just got back from being up there this week...No offroading but it would still be a little muddy back there as there is still snow on the north facing slopes...

...I want to thank Ritsui and Khiori for the hospitality while I was up there and also to Boomer12 for sharing his work world with me and showing me some stuff I would never have gotten to see...:biggthump

Damn! I just drove out there two weeks ago because online it said it was open and it wasn't!

...I haven't confirmed that it's opened myself, those guys might have snuck up there on their own at night...I think you can call the Ranger station office in Corona to verify...

Unless the back entrance was open or from another intersecting trail, i didn't see a way around the gate for a vehicle at the irvine entrance. I checked

ive been wanting to go out on a trail run, what kind of car outfitting is needed to handle the types of stuff you guys do

...We have meet and greets fairly often and all X's and Rangers are welcome...We also have trail run's with 4x4's and 4x2's come out also to join in the fun...

...Some folks come out and just camp with us and also ride along...

Jim, in the socal section there is a thread about a past trip on the Mojave Road...but in that thread some of us are trying to get another one planned in the next few weeks, so check that one out. Also in the Planning and Discussion section, there's a thread on Corral Canyon which is in 2 weekends.

my car should be on its feet soon. so im just sayin, im planning a john bull run sometime soon. fun trail and pretty short too.
