How close is that hose to the belt 😱

Si

close, but not touching. i would put a larger idler on, but would then have to go threw the hassle of finding a new belt.

mysterious box showed up today?

d6d4be35-fd7f-4b5c-9c9e-70c759cd1937.jpg

it brings a height of just under 14 inches. what is this thing?

my newest less complicated (i think) m122 mount.

after i got this new to me blower to replace my one i have on the truck now (case is scored, teflon on the rotors pealing because of oil going threw the case) i was wishing i didnt have to cut it up, and also drill the bottom of the blower. i dont know how a high ram cam into my mind but it did. i belong on a explorer performance page on facebook. one of the members there has a high ram and i asked him to measure the width at the top, which was around 8 inches. i also measured the bottom of the blower and it was close to the same.
next came height. holley has a blueprint for these on there website. that to was around 8.3 inches. now to messure the height of the blower. around 5ish inches. ok, i now have a height but i cant remember what the current height of the one i have now. i do remember it was a inch shorter then the m112, and explorer express m90. who has a explorer express m90 that can do a measurement for me? enter @ahodges !
messaged andy and he got back to me with around 13 and 3/8 total that includes lower intake, box and supercharger (i also kept him in the dark lol).
perfect! this should fit under a stock hood let along the cowl hood. im going to heat the gas chamber (shed) this weekend if its not too cold out so i can plop this on my spare stroker to see how forward or back i can go. i really want to make the m122 snout work if i can by getting another metco or similar pulley/hub kit and mounting the pulley in the opposite way it should be. if not, then i start looking (already have) for a m112 snout from a cobra or lightning. if not find a magnusson snout (fount they will work as well). if not, then landrover. if not then i play with snout and pulley combo's and pray it doessnt break me.
this is how i fix my power brake problem by adding a new supercharger set up.

oh! i almost forgot. intercooler!

now if all this works and if i dont toss a meth kit on instead i had also tripped over a company that makes a intercooler for holley ram intakes. i am hoping they all have the same dimensions and bolt patterns across the board. if they do and i have the room for it, i will have to save my pennies for this.

The mad scientist at work!

Love the intercooler. I sure hope you can figure something out there. Looks like a crazy setup. Ever think of moving Evil to a race gas of some sort? That will bring a tear to your eye(s).

not sure how happy your motor would be with that. as well, i would have to have a tune just for that fuel. i tried that back in the day with my capri. a buddy of mine as well as me bought some av gas and went to the track. we ran slower. mind you we didnt put anymore timing into our cars as well. that and that stuff back then was crazy expensive. i dont want to think how bad it is today.

Yea, av gas would need a full re-tune. More fuel and timing adjust.

went out to the gas chamber this evening to do a rough fit to see what i am up against. i was happy with what i saw.

it looks like it sits high up there, but its not that bad.

i knew there would be a big gap at the back. that will be covered with the plate.

7.jpg

all but 2 holes from the high ram are open. the 2 front ones

8.jpg

all the way forward, but not covering the exhaust opening of the blower.

my straightish edge is at the back of the crank pulley and it lines up with the front grove of the supercharger pulley. i also figured it would land around there. however, there is about 3/4 to a inch of the shaft that extends out from the straight edge. i ordered a metco 2.70 pulley kit today that will be here around mid feb. as mentioned the plan is to use this snout with a m112 pulley (shaft diameter is the same for a m112 to a m122). m122 snout is shorter, so i will install the hub so far back or forward. then put the pulley on backwards so the offset of the pulley is to the front of the truck. then i should be able to use the m122 snout and not make another hybrid because that sorta has its problems.
i ordered a 3/8 plate of alum (hopefully its thick enough not to warp once its cut down) and should be cut next week. i am going to have it so the plate bolts to the high ram first then the blower. no more cutting up a supercharger. im not sure how the intake elbow is going to work just yet. i am really trying to its not too much taller then the m90 explorer express kits. this way i know it will fit under a stock hood.
"you have a cowl hood, why do you care about it fitting under a stock hood?"
this way if something ever happens to my unbelievably expensive cowl hood, i can still put my stock hood back on and continue.

Did you say that intercooler will fit below the plate you are having made?

if i do add a intercooler (that one) it would go hi ram, cooler, plate, supercharger as long as the bolt pattern is the same as a ls hi ram up top if you know what i am explaining.

I'm guessing part of your struggle is that with that intercooler the whole assembly would not fit under a stock hood?

that i know for sure. all my old setups (as everyone saw) fit under a stock hood with some room to spare. that intercooler thats in that like adds almost 3 inchs to the total height. andy and myself might have enough room with our hoods, but i think that to would be very close.
with that all said, i bit the bullet today and also bought a meth kit. wished i would have kept the old one...

the place i deal with locally had told me earlier this week they didnt know what they were cutting the alum plate that i need. so impatient me headed into the city for my second (and more expensive) choice. turns out i got lucky because they had a odd cut that was too small for them to cut, but way more then i needed, and cheaper then the place in town, SOLD!
headed out to the gas chamber so start doing something with this stuff. i wanted to cut, and drill the top part for the supercharger. that i know where it will go and wont move once i have it bolted down. i used larger bolts then the factory mount bolts, so i drilled the openings larger on the supercharger mounts. while i did that i clamped the plate to it making where i needed to drill and tap.

i also had the snout from the supercharger thats on evil now sitting around that i took apart for what ever reason years ago. i kinda avoided putting it together because my press is burred in the corner, then i had a brain wave idea. i tossed the shaft and inner bearing outside for a few mins, then took the bare snout and hung it infront of my heater. was able to fit it by just pushing it on with my had. now that the inner bearing was in, time for the outer. that i was able to put in with a deep socket, and hammer! no press needed. win!
i have a seal and retainer but im not sure which way the retainer goes on so i will have to hopefully find a good picture on the net. hopefully my pulley comes this week so i can put that on and finish lining everything up.
speaking of waiting for parts, i have another part coming that i have been searching for over 4 or 5 years that i finally found. ill show ya when it comes, which hopefully will be also next week.
otherwise once again everything is fitting really nice and i am happy with the way its going so far!

You found a good use for our deep freeze outside. It just is not warming up yet. Awesome idea.
Nice to see your moving along so quickly.
You always keep us guessing with what part is coming next.

Saleen something or other? Can’t imagine what you found! I am thinking front or rear spoiler?

you know what it is lol. the benefit of living 20 mins from me

i would kill for saleen explorer, or wing (i know where one is, but the owner would lock me in a dog kennel and torture me for the remainder of my life if i tried anything funny.). its actually a part for the motor.
remember how happy i was on how easy the snout went back together......yea, stupid me forgot the spring inside of it so now it has to come apart. speaking of screw ups, i am literally on hold with jegs. they backordered my pulley so i want a solid answer when it will be released. ive gotten gunshy of the word backorder with my experiences with holley. i also went to cancel my alum order with the company in town this morning. well, seems like they arnt on the ball and cut on friday and didnt contact me. i now own a slab of alum that i dont need.

the mystery motor part came today.

i have been searching literally for around 4-5 years for one of these things used because buying a new one was waaaaay out of the sanity level for me (look on meziere's web page for that part number). then converting from u.s. dollars to back bacon strips plus tax, shipping duty. i was on marketplace looking for some other stuff and i figured i would search this pump. found a few in the u.s. then low and behold a guy near toronto ontario right here on the great white north had this one new in the box. bought it for his 94 gt, then sold the car. i managed to get it for a 1/3 of the price new, in canadian funds, with no tax, duty and all that bs. i wanted this pump so that if i go someplace and its running hot i can flip a switch and have both my fans running and pump to cool it down. also with me having a larger crank pulley it was overdriving the mechanical pump so who know how well that was cooling. add this to the parts pile i would like to get done this spring. i will be a busy person so hopefully spring comes soon, and not like the -41C with the windchill we will be getting tonight...

Sweet! I take it you have to get the heater core inlet fittings separately?

Also, it looks like that built in idler is widen enough for an 8 rib belt... :shifty:
