Tbars Project "X" begins

First and foremost my ranger is my favorite truck...I will not let any of you fools try to talk me into changing my new project into some rock beast, lmao...this rig is just to go camping and fishing in and thats it...it took all the money i had to buy and the seller was great and is a new member here....thanks rick, the seller that is...

I have never as much sat in an explorer and today was the first time i opened a door on one...

It needs alot of tlc and a new 4.0 motor as the current one is seized...It needs a bit of paint work as the clear coat is shot and the front fenders are a different color....

Notes
1) Kbabiak, you need to make some pre-made shipping tags with my name on them as I will be needed a bunch of little parts...
2) Admin Rick, I sent my new membership dues in at 8am this morning as i was hoping to be a new X owner...

...I would be interested and I will be in Pismo on june 6th...Maybe you could come down for the weekend.....I could also use both black, front, inside door pulls, if you have them..

boy i sure hope my explorer is ready by then! Im in the middle of auto to manual tranny and transfer swap right now, and everything is fightin me. The door pulls are all manual window/lock so dont know if that'll help...but i'll yank the box...i'll let you know if its a good one asap

...I made myself go to NAPA today and pick up some CRC maf cleaner and a K&N recharge kit and got both for $19...

...I just did the ranger first since I am driving it so much and it needs to get smog tested soon..I had to wash the filter twice due to all the black soot, but the MAF seemed really clean...I am hoping the sputter on the ranger was due to these items as I will know tomorrow...

..The Project X's filter on the other hand, is going to be washed a bunch and I am looking for somewhere to do it at, as it is nasty.....I'm hoping to get some good/better milage going up to Pismo in a few weeks....If I can just do the dang speed limit there and back..

...and I need to get to finding some time to get her welded back up or she is staying home...Oh, and I picked up my 160+ amp alternator from a alternator shop that I had it tested at...He said the new alt is charging and to go ahead and throw it in...If it doesn't work properly it's going to be $165 to rebuild it..

Tbars, FYI you can probably rebuild the alternator yourself for 5 bucks.

..The brushes would cost that alone...It is 160 amp and it spins faster so it is more apt to wear quicker...The biggest concern I have now is the voltage regulator ($58 for stock 90 amp)and it would definately cost more than 5 bucks, not counting the stater and some other parts that I may need..
...I am no expert on the windings but I would rather pay for it to be done by a specialist rather than be stuck out in the rocks on a night run...

...Btw, my latest price if I need to completely rebuild it with a warranty is $120...

well i can only wish it will be done by then, we just noticed I have a cracked front diff I have another one, but its not locked with 4.56's in it, so that'll cost me. But the PS box is coming out tonight, its as dry as a popcorn fart!

...I've just been busy with a project for work..:shifty_ey ...And handling takeoffs and phone calls at night...Most all of the So. Cal. guys have been busy and not even been on the Forum lately so nobody's been making any trips...

...We have Big Bear coming up the 17th of this month and I'm not sure I'll even be in the State when it happens...

...I finally had some free minutes today so I took and visited the X...My dog was jonesing as much as I so we took and pressure washed it real quick...One day I'll have enough time to delouse it from the 500#'s of trail dirt trapped inside...
