Tbars Project "X" begins

...I found gas for $3.95 so I filled up the X and took her camping locally...It's been hot and muggy and everywhere around here looks like fire fuel......We need some light rain for a week or so as we haven't had any rain in months...

...I did have time to clean my KKM filter...I don't know how the truck could run with a filter like that...

I'm going to put the stock box back on. That filter gets effed after 1/2 of a Truckhaven trip.

...As dry as it is out here this year, all it takes is following someone on a dirt road and it looks like your filter just did the Baja 1000...

...As with all things that are easy to maintain, they usually need to be maintained often...:(

...I did find and have, a filter for my stock air box made by STP...I really like the design and the pleats won't collapse as it has better material and a pleat seperator running down the middle of it...;)

...I've had a little free time in the afternoons so I have been able to get the shock hoop welded back up, a couple triangles welded on to the superlift drop bracket and weld it's crack, and also weld the parking brake bracket...

...I need to probably find a new steering box......But I have a spare tire comming...D'oh, I still need to get a wheel...

My brother has a few 15x7 centerline 8 hole wheels if your interested.

...Thanks for the offer but I need min. 15x8 or a 15x10..:(

...Last night I had some free time before dark so I was finally able to put the new neg. batttery cable on...Kind of a pain but I need to drive the X some more...

...It seemed to run a bit better, quieter, and cooler..:shifty_ey ...I need to watch that as it already runs cool enough...

..WooHoo, 20,000...:D

...as of about 9 a.m. this morning, this thread had been viewed 20,000 times...

..Right now I can't commit to anything...I've had 4 jobs postponed within 1 week..

..The problem is, they will all start back up at the same time except for the bigger one...I declined it due to their generals lack of knowledge on running the job..

The Ranger is needing some attention and I have been spending all my money on smog, registration, insurance, and now repairing both vehicles...

...It's a little to soon for me..:(

...Work is picking back up and september will be busy..

...This lead to some tinkering time...I pulled the roof racks off for aerodynamic purposes....yea right, lol...It seems like the only clear coat left on the roof is under the racks so now it's ready for the clear coat to be baked off with the sun..:D

...I picked up a couple fuel filters for both the X and the Ranger...It seems that since gas has dropped in price I've clogged both trucks filters at the same time...At least I'm hoping it's only the filters......I did find out that both the X and the Ranger take the same fuel filter..

...Plus I added some power steering stop leak..;)

...Took the X out to go camping...I was on the freeway doing about 70 and romped on it to get around someone...Something felt a little off...Pulled off the freeway and saw I had tranny fluid running out the bell housing like water..Warranty of tranny just went off 2 1/2 months ago...

...Will up date tomorrow but I think it's a main seal...:dunno:

Sounds like the front pump seal blew out. Easy and cheap to fix as long as you didn't keep driving it after it started leaking. I had that happen to mine after I installed the new trans. That is why I had to rebuild mine. The only thing is I had to try and drive mine off the freeway and it burnt the friction straps. :(

...Thanks for the heads up...I drove about ten miles and I hope it did ok...I think I'm going to wait a little before I jump into this..:(

...I ran my mechanic buddy over to look at the X and while I was there I spotted this new trailer being stored...:wtf:

...It has truck challenge, all the 4x magazine, diesel magazine, and truck magazine stickers on it...Sponsers I guess but I'm curious what the vehicle inside is..

Stake out! :D

...The fun begins...:D

...I call triple AAA and give them my cell number, pick up address, and delivery addy....She says a large flatbed has been dispatched and will be there in 30 minutes or less...I say," That's pretty darn quick...Don't you need my number from my card??"....She say's "No, we have your cell number in the system and this will be for your 91 Ford Explorer today sir, is this correct???"...:splat:

...Lol, I think I have less than 7000 miles on the X plus I have about 300 miles of towing used :shifty_ey..(not all my milage on the towing)...I asked her if I was earning points and she laughed...:D
