Well now I'm not positive I am going to make it. My son, Kevin, made it into the local Honor Band and their concert is Sat night. Already registered for TDS though.
We'll see . . . .

I'll claim your prize for you at the raffle...probably be a jeep bumper or something anyways:rolleyes: :p:

Brian, is the area you are talking about just on the other side of S22 from where you guys last camped? I was thinking if we could nab a spot in the corner away from the quads and such that it might not be so bad but that's if we could get it first.

That is exactly where I was talking about, but there are quads and motorcyles sharing the area, which could be a pain. There are also several places off that smooth, graded road that goes off south into the desert just west of the old golf course. We just need to do a scouting trip. If I get the Explorer back before TDS, I will be up for a day run out there to check out some spots. I might run out there in my Volvo this week to scout for camping spots, since then I might have some perspective about where to camp with an RV, cause I lost all perspective when I put those 35" MTR's and lockers on the Explorer.

Good luck scouting around guy's.

Prespective Ha! When you and rick were leading the stockers and Rick would ask if you thought they could make it wou were like :dunno:

ok i definately think i am going to be making it out there for tds and also thinking about redoing my rearend before i go still havent decide on a full locker or a limited slip and i cant remember who told me to use a aussie they said they are really good and alot of yall run them but i wrote to the engineers on the site and they said they dont make one for my truck

Well, just got back from doing a little scouting but the Ranger started sputtering so I didn't want to push it and headed home. I did make it down on the other side of S22 and there's quite a few areas with covered picnic tables that hug the hillside against S22. There's quite a few berms where it looks like quads and such ride so I'm a bit leary of that area...otherwise it's RV accessable and tent friendly.
Also went up S22 a bit from where we camp on the bluff and saw a few open areas that would be nice but as suspected, it was more rocks than dirt so not very tent friendly. Unless we camp on the truckhaven side, I have a feeling wherever we camp on the ocotillo side will be crowded so i'm out of ideas:rolleyes:

Thanks DB. You're right, it's going to be a toss up, sort of like picking lines in the supermaket. Which ever line you pick is always the slowest.

Maybe we should just camp same place as last time. Nice view and we're protected on one side by the drop off. Being a smaller group we can go further up. Maybe Brian will find a spot this weekend.

Whooooohooooo just hit post #1000!!!!!!!!

So I figured out my sputtering problem...I bought new spark plugs and upon changing them out, one of the electrodes was split in half. New plugs are in and purrs like a kitten:thumbsup:

The bluff is fine by me, let's decide here real soon so I can tell my buddy Dan where to bring out his camper. When is everyone planning to come out?
What's your status "ditto" brothers, yay or nay?

I'm in and arriving Friday after lunch. I prefer last runs site on the bluff. Sunsets are killer from up there.

Thanks Colin, just found the date, Nov. 05. Time flies.

Well guy's have we decided???????

How bout a vote? I'm fine with the new "usual" spot on the bluff.

I hope to get out there noonish on friday.

Exacto! Noonish Friday.

My buddy Dan isn't bringing out his RV so we'll all be tenting it. Also, Dan's sister and her husband are bringing out their TJ. They are newbs to the sport so i plan on taking it easy with them but if everyone else wants to find some more challenging terrain then by all means do so.

EDIT: My friends will all be arriving Sat morning, i'd like to check out the vendors area after I set up camp fri afternoon then hopefully go on a run afterwards with whoever shows up.

I'm not going to make it, but I thought I'd post some pictures from this weekend out at Ocotillo Wells.

Got high centered as bad as I could. All 4 tires were spinning freely.

Notice the radius arm is burried...

This is right before I got stuck. I was flexing and just tried to go forward, but when my driver side rear tire hit, it spun the whole truck around.
