I got my pitman arm reamed ay a local 4x4 shop, only cost me $15, a lot better than $90 for something I would only use once

Wow.... What a great informative thread. I own a first gen but have gained some ideas from reading through 76 pages of info here.

gman - congrats on a great build and good luck on the SAS. I will be following from here on out!

I have a reamer :)

I just ordered my Artec 8.8 truss, 15% discount they have right now so after shipping was $187 and they are great!!

Mine just going on regular Explorer 8.8, but I will be jumping my truck alot.
I bent my Fw 8.8 just offroading not that hard on Purple Ranger/B2

No idea why I don't get email notifications on here anymore, I had no idea someone has posted here since I last visited this thread. :dunno:

Def going to get the truss set up, that's a great price too!

Hmm.... Going with the drill/sleeve on the knuckles don't seem so bad to me. Taking the pitman arm in to be reamed seems like a perfect idea.

Thanks cmhaah06, Threads going to keep growing too, I just cant seem to stop modifying this dang thing! :D

Updates??

Will you have this one or Pugly at Smorr or both?

Cool cool. I will be in Moab early June the easy way. Rental :)

Scratch one more thing off the list of parts to get.

Picked up my long arms w/Johnny Joints from S.F.F. customs in CO. Talk about pure beef! Wowzers! :)

These will go great with the custom mounts made by Brian1 for them. Trans cross member is all that remains to make for this part of the build.

Pictures of arms or it didn't happen.

So went to visit the rig yesterday. It's been sitting for a few months now with a dead battery. Something drained the new battery again. Never had issues until the winch was installed.

So I install another brand new battery, but this time I installed 2 more disconnects. A throw style on the positive, and a screw style on the negative. For now the rig is just sitting, and I didn't have time to figure out the drain issue. I just wanted to start it to run for a few, and move it.

As luck would have it, the engine wouldn't run. It cranked, sputtered, ran for a second and died. Figured...hmm, the fuel in the system has evaporated, let me prime the pump a few times, then turn the key.

Nope, nothing doing. Does the same thing every time, crank, sputter, run a second, die. So Now I'm thinking the pump ain't working right. I check the fuse, all good. I pull the relay, hmm, how do I test a relay? Heck if I know, I put it back in. Try again, nope, same old same old. :(

So with no more time left in my day to try to figure it out, I throw the disco's on the battery, close the hood, and say my goodbyes.

I have a couple of weeks before I return to the rig, so in the meantime, I need to devise a plan of action to work on it in the best time fashion allowed. I will only have a few hours to work on it the next time I get to it.

So...

Swap the fuel pump relay
Check the pressure at the shrader valve with KOEO
Look for critters chewing the wiring
spray some starting fluid
After that, I'm at a loss for what to try besides dropping the tank and testing the pump.

Any ideas is thanked in advance! :D

Any chance that the gas has gone bad in the tank or lines and is clogging stuff up?

When she sputtered and died did you happen to smell the tailpipe to see if there was fuel/smoke/death/etc?

Didn't sniff the tail pipe. But come to think of it, the tube bumper above the tail pipe had a birds nest inside it. I pulled it out when I noticed it, but didn't even think to look in the pipe. Hmm.... :dunno:

Gas is a couple months old, and over a half tank. Should be fine.

It acts as if it is not getting the fuel pressure it needs to run. :(

Once again, life has thrown a curve ball. All mods are halted, and this rig might be up for sale soon as it sits. I will give the forum a first shot at the sale if that does indeed happen.

Hey Dave, long time no see.

It seems trying to reinvent myself at the back end of my working career has proved to be more challenging then I thought it would be. I have to relocate permanently. I have to simplify some parts of my life to make that happen. I have to get rid of one vehicle, as I have to get another for work. Since doing the SAS is easier & cheaper on the 1st gen, thats whats going to happen.

This rig is very capable for what it is. A true dual use, on/off road vehicle. It will make someone very happy the way it sits. It has for me. I personally want an off road only rig. Since the new work rig will serve as a tow rig, doing the SAS on the 1st gen only makes sense to me. Thus, their will be no room for this rig anymore.

After the fuel starvation issue is solved, it will be up for sale.

what were the parts you were using to mount the shocks/springs to the frame? I'm at a loss for what to use on Pickle, I've got a dual shock set up going in...

For coil overs on the IFS or for the SAS?

For the SAS... I'm using a BDS 6" Bronco lift, coil springs and dual shocks... the D44 I bought was a dual shock set up, so I might aswell run with it...
