TORQUE MONSTER Headers GROUP BUY

I fixed mine this week. My cracked collector was causing all kinds of issues besides just being noisy.
I think I'm in to month 4 of waiting. Business must be good for Al's Headers.

I just installed mine a couple weeks ago. I used all of the hardware and gaskets that were provided in the kit. A couple of the bolts were a real PITA to get in, but I got them in.

The only real problem I had was the EGR tube that was supplied was about 1/4" too short. After allot of heating/bending/stretching I got it to work, but in the process I caused a couple stress cracks in the tube. I had to pay a muffler shop $20 to TIG weld the cracks up.

Instead of loosening the 2 nuts on the top of the passenger side motor mount I loosened the 2 bolts and the motor mount stud nut from underneath. I also cut off the excess bolt studs from the 2 bolts on the top.

The sound was a bit more crisp and defined, but not much louder than the original exhaust. I do not run a muffler on my exhaust, just the 4 cats.

I didn't notice any significant power improvement, but not having the exhaust leak I had was a major improvement ;)

i might be in mines a 98 :JP:

I need a set for my 96 but can't wait very long. I need them asap.

So i guess all you do is call Als give them a deposit and wait??

and wait....and wait.............

I guess my concern is that they decide to close up shop and the deposit's lost. I really don't like leaving a deposit for 6 months+ hoping something actually materializes.
I'm 6 months in, and Erica will not return my calls or texts. I left it alone for a couple of months, but am looking for a status update. I think I might start trying caller id block and see if I can get her on the phone.

I just don't know why Al's headers would buy the required jigs and rights to the headers and not bother delivering on the product. Anyway, just understand that it turns out some of the other guys were complaining for good reason.

Dono, I feel your pain. I bought a set of headers from a now banned person on here. Paid dearly for them. They were advertised as for a 2000 5.0 Ex. The long block I bought to build my 347 was a 2000 model with the GT40p heads, even though my Ex is a 97. I sold my old long block cheap, and the headers bolted right up, but the spark plugs wouldn't fit. I put the iron manifolds on the 347 so I could drive it and got a set of aluminum castings that fit the headers and spark plugs. I took the headers and spark plugs with me to the warehouse and test fitted everything. Too much work and expense to take a chance. When the heads get done at the machine shop, I get to change the heads and put the headers on, hopefully, for the final time. Probably have to retune the engine again. Runs great, but I want to use those headers, so I'm willing to do the work again. I hope Al comes thru for you guys who are waiting, almost wonder if I should have gone your route. Best of luck.

I just spoke with Erica,
They had all kinds of flange issues, and are having to order different flanges and figure out exactly what they have so the correct product goes out. biff9703, this might be consistent with the issue you have.
Erica tells me there has been lots of discussion on what is going on, and have gotten it sorted out. The headers have been welded up, once the proper flanges show up they will be welded to the flanges and off to the coaters.

I have to say, I'm happy that this issue is being sorted out before they show up to me in Canada. Shipping is a killer, even more of a killer to pay twice.

Anyway, I'm satisfied. Just knowing that I haven't been forgotten and the issues are being sorted out helps ease my pain.

Great news! You'll be done before me, but you guys who have been waiting have been on pins and needles! Let us know how it works out, I'll post after my completion as well.

Ill sit and wait for a bit before i start handing money out. Thx guys

I waited for over a year to get mine from the group buy.

So are they still taking orders for TM headers outside of this massive group buy, or is there no more? I am thinking about getting some in the spring with my tax return, I was originally going to get them in the group buy, but I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the truck, but now after not being able to find a SS TB I liked, I am sticking with my Ex, and no car payment, lol.

Yes, Im outside the group buy.
If you want them for spring, my advice would be to call Erica and see what the minimum down payment she will take to get started is. Don't count on a quick turn around. She said with the illnesses that have been going around their shop, and goofy things like wrong flanges they are way behind.
Erica's very nice, and easy to deal with. I somehow think Al's headers is just that busy, and they do not want to grow and risk a down turn.

Awesome, good to hear, is the number right on the TM site?

Thank you, I will have to give them a call pretty soon, I would like to have them on by next summer if at all possible.

Erica called today. My headers are back from the coaters. :Happy Dance:

They will be shipping out in the next day or two. Bye Bye exhaust leak. I can hardly wait. The ticking is slowly driving me insane.

That is good news.

I was told that mine were back from the coaters and would ship in a couple of days and gave them the final payment. It took almost 2 week to get a tracking number from them and UPS says that they still haven't been picked up yet. Has anyone else had this problem. Tried calling, texting, & e-mail but get no one. I just hope that I now not out the full price of the headers.

This is a 'Me 2' post. I did speak with Erica though.
It sounds like they are a family run business and they have been having family issues so not much is moving thru their shop. I'm not sure what to say, as I have a cracked header that has been fixed locally and has cracked again. While I really want my headers so I am not seen as driving a 'piece of crap', I am not in the hospital with any life threatening issues.
I just have to keep putting things in that perspective for now. Hopefully things settle down for them soon and they can get back to making some money.
