Nah I'll just use some eurathane mustang mounts. Now that I've got my AA manual I know which mounts to get.

man this section of the forum moves slooooooow.

the Advance Adapters conversion manual?

If you find urethane mounts that bolt the 5.0L into an Explorer please share..
the only mounts I know of made for this conversion are Mustang or L&L products.
I think Autofab may make some but those are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

yeah. The ones I need are the ones aa and James duff sell. Black with a kinda nipple lookin thing on the bottom.

I think they are for a convertible Mustang.

As long as I can fine poly mount made for the same convertible Mustang they should work correct?

Il give it a try atleast.

well this project gets shelved for a bit cause of this:

i figured, spend over 2500 bucks for a 331 and a kick ass explorer or spend <2000 for a 351w and a kick ass bronco AND kick ass explorer.

That looks good, I've always wanted a Bronco. I have just never needed one, does that have the 351 or a 460, what year is it?

1990 351w

Unfortunatley it's speed density.

With as much space as there is in there, you can swap in almost anything. I know the a smallblock is a simpler solution, you can upgrade the PCM system also. What transmission does it have, and what do you need? Swapping a later PCM etc. is no picnic, but it would be worth it for a keeper vehicle. If you plan it to be a short term truck or casual use, low mileage etc, then keep it near stock(PCM/engine/trans). That's your big decision, how will you really use it. That's why I haven't considered one, it would be hardly used so I couldn't justify doing much with it.

Well that was a bust.

Thing had NO power whatsoever. Felt like I was in my old four banger mustang. Cept THAT was faster.

Felt like it was missing on two cylinders. And there had to be something wrong with the transmission.

Oh well I'll Keep myneyes open

IMO go w/ a 4.6 w/ PI heads, about the same power, cheaper to get(I've found some for dirt cheap anyways) and just as good aftermarket support

4.6 is 16" wider than a standard 302 and it's longer.
I could fit it in the car. If I had mad skills.

wish I could though. You're right about the cheap to find part.

I've been thinkin about it and I think continuing with the egine swap will make me happiest.

I'll get a bronko sooner or later to make into a trail rig but it's more truck than I need right know. Maybe a bronco 2.

I DEFINATLEY can't wait to see don's 347-stuffed-'99/'93!

That will most likely propell me into my own swap.

Check this craigslist has a 302 windsor(he is adamant about this, apperantly it's different than a "5.0") that was used on a blown car. Says I'd consumes moderate oil and needs a rebuild but it's last pass in a 3100 car with 7psi was at 12.somethin in the quarter.

I'm still not sure about that one, sounds okay cause I'm gonna tear the engine down anyway but perhaps has seen abuse...?

I don't want to disappoint but my 347 is to replace my 302 in my Mountaineer. I'm about to finish the swap of the BW4406 4WD into it first. It's here at my house with the radiator being cleaned out. When I get it running again I'll take it to my friend's where we have more tools. I'll make a thread about the A4WD soon first.

I'd like to tell you to find a good used engine, but that is not very easy given specific needs like you have. There are new parts out there also, the Corral forum has all kinds of things. The problem is that most are not exactly what you want, and those that are typically cost about the same as if you bought it new yourself. I have seen a lot of shortblocks and longblocks there, heads etc new and used. The prices I paid for my engine are not amazingly cheap, but no more than any of those deals from others for there used or new and not wanted stuff.

Price a wish parts engine on Ford Strokers, then shop around to see what may turn up similar to what you want. FYI, skip the forged crank and H-beam rods unless you will reach at least 450hp. Regards,

oh sweet that makes it even more kickass!

Well I guess now it's back to trying to figure a way around the crack balancer pickup.

The only aftermarket pickups I've found are these "flying magnet" things and I'm not sure that's what I need.

I love those roller rockers your sportin. Are those the comp cams gold series that were on the front page of summits last acatalogue?

And are those dual valve springs I see?

My engine builder did like my balancer, you may recall I mentioned the opposite. He was speaking about another persons engine, he builds so many that he mixed them up. Thus you can look at the $330 as a high end cost for a usable 28oz.crank dampener. I glanced at some of the aftermarket crank triggers last week. They might save a little money if they would work, but they likely will not. They all seem to bolt directly to the front of the balancer, which is exactly where the belt rides on the Explorer pulley.

The rockers I have are the Ultra Golds that seem to be the hot part this year, I was going to use Pro Magnums but was steered to those.

The valve springs are double for the big custom cam, but look at the retainers. That is a trick question, because I didn't order/pay for that upgrade. Note the color of them, and the normal color of retainers? Regards,

ok so we need to talk about this balancer pickup.

i assume its purpose is to relate crank position to the computer in order for the computer to determine the precise time to fire the ignition correct?

why did they not have this part on the foxbodies?

Because fox bodies(prior to 96) have distributors.:D

that was my assumption.

Is there any way I can revert to distributer and keep the 96+ computer?
