How many miles on it now?

I have heard of some of the early explorer's beeing a "Bad Egg" meaning what could go wrong with them Did go wrong! Hang in there dude, Not all of the Explorers are like the one you have......

I had a Bronco II, I had to replace the Motor, the Cat, a suspension bushing,a Modula in the Distributor failed on me, and left me on the side of the highway a few times.... the Seat was bending back more and more all the time..... but I would buy that truck back right now if I could find it, and had the $!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I went to Wendy's last week and ordered a double-cheeseburger combo, and it was cold and the fries tasted like crap! Wendy's sucks! Tell everyone you know never to go to Wendy's!

I also remember when I was a kid and my parents bought a house. We weren't there for a year when a water pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom -- cost us over $1000 to repair the damage! I can tell you that was the last house anyone in my family will ever buy.

i have a 93 with almost 95,000 miles on it and its been my best car yet

The 91 that I had was on 380,000+ miles when I traded it in. The origional Motor and Trans. 4.0 automatic. I loved that truck. Highway miles and little off roading. The electronic Transfer case did need the rubber mallot once to get it to engage. But other then that and a Silonoid (sp?) The truck was absoultly faboulos!

BUY A FORD

I had a 94. I ran it to 165k before selling it to a co-worker. Original engine and tranni... Right now the only problem is it needs a left auto hub. I had replaced the right for $45. No rust no dents, looks nearly new.

I am confident he'll get many more miles out of that truck.

The only reason I sold it was because I got a great deal on my 96 Eddie Bauer.

Thats funny!! Yea if everything didnt break or wear out we would have it made- life would be grand.

Thanks

I am on my second explorer right now and guess what? NO PROBLEMS WITH BOTH! The first one was a 92 and had 284,000 miles on it and I did not touch anything. I never even changed the transmission fluid and never had a problem with it. Original transmission. I sold that one and Have a 94 now. 125,00 miles and not a problem yet. I bought it with 65,000 miles in 2001. The only things I ever did to both of them is change the oil, spark plugs, air filter and various small cheap fixes. Like somebody else said you probally got a "bad egg" with this one. I guess I have been lucky. At any rate when I am done with my 94 I would buy another explorer in a heart beat.

Yeah, dude don't ever buy a house, everything is always breaking all the time, everything costs a bunch of money to fix I think Ill sell it and get a tent.

Yeah.. I really hate mine too.. I have to buy tires for it. .change its oil.. and it burns gasoline.. dont ever buy a automobile... they are not worth the effort.. :D LOL

on the serious side.. it doesn't matter who builds it.. they all break.. "It's Only A Machine" if they all lasted forever.. then how would I ever get to buy a newer used one? I have had my share of problems with all makes.. and have had great luck with them all aswell.. I have had a Chevy Corsica ran it way over 220,000 miles and only ever did normal maintance.. My 91 Explorer has 136,000 on it now and after me fixing a few things on it ( all new balljoints, Ujoints, Exhaust, Tires, Radius Arm Bushings, wheel bearings, brake rotors and pads and some other misc. things... but this is to be expected on any vehicle that is near or over 100,000 miles also.. was this vehicle beat to snot before you bought it? I know I am capable of taking a brand new Explorer and making it a complete junk pile in less then 50,000 miles.. if you choose to not do maintance and drive it irresponsibly it will show all of this in a short time.. enough of my rant..

"BUILT FORD TOUGH" Remember.. Rocks just lay around.. and get in the way... :D

My 95 has 131k, never had a CEL, never had any problems. Regular maitenance is all she requires. So go buy a Trailblazer and then report back to us after it's in the junkyard just before 80k.

Spoken like a true Yankee fan:confused:

I am on my 2nd explorer - replaced the tranny 3 times, replaced all the ujoints and bearings, rebuilt the rear axle twice, the front once then replaced it with a solid Dana 44, I buy tires once/year at $200+ per tire, get about 12mpg on the road - GOD I LOVE THIS THING! Best vehicle I've ever owned. Why did all this stuff break? I BROKE IT BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF IT! You were given - big point - GIVEN a used car. They cost money. First - don't be so ungrateful because you were GIVEN a car. Who cares if it needs a tranny and so on - IT WAS FREE! Stop whining and come back to a place known as realty...

You sound like a nice guy, I can't imagine such bad things happining to you. Just keep that positive attitude and the world will be yours!

I think you have a serious attitude problem. You come on an Explorer Forum and talk crap about the vehicles that we here love. Oh, and by saying that you fixed a problem no thanks to ths site is a good way to get a lot of people here pissed at you. Please take your attitude elsewhere.

So you bought a used vehicle and are upset with it having what looks like two or three problems in the last 2 or three years(original post on this was in 03 I see). Sorry.
You couldnt fix the electric shift motor from help on this site- sorry the great people here couldnt help you- although having read about a zillion posts and topics on shift motor failure, and how to repair and or replace it Im not sure why?

Your system kills the battery and the alt and you seem to place blame on the vehicle- take a look at who did the work, sounds like its not set up correctly.

As for the house - you must not own one. Take a look at the specialty tools for Electricians, plumbers, masons, carpenters, the HVAC guys etc. Theres plenty of secret tools- you just dont know about them :D . Houses are like vehicles- a little basic knowledge helps. Plenty of home owners who F- up their houses by not using the right tool, materials, or process. You may just be more familiar with houses.

Have fun with what ever vehicle you choose to drive- hopefully everyone can find their perfect vehicle.

You should sell the truck and take the bus to school.

edit: too harsh, true but too harsh
