oh yea. i forgets that. Thanks for the links. I guess i'll have to sit down a decide. width like stic-o or get one cut down. If I can wait long enough hopefully that suproir(sp) axle kit will be out and i can just run 5 on5 all the way around.

I played around some more with the welder. Made a clauk block for the tire out of scrape steel (freebie cut offs). Found out yea i still weld ugly but i penatriat good and its holds. I was using a 5 pound hammer to beat on it till i just welded a peice to a 1/4 in thick peice of 1" tibe and beat it on the concret till i realized it was stuck on. I aming going to Do all the welds I think at home, then take the truck to a pro and have them burnt in - that a good idea?

isnt this what JEFE is running? A d44 from a rubicon?

They also sell a 12" for Blazers that will fit 42's without trimming... it doesnt mean that its okay to run 42's on 10 bolt axles. ;)

After i get everything cleaned up and inspected the cv's and front axle (if a certin person doesnt want it still) frotn gears and locker are goign on ebay to help fund this along with some other parts i have laying around. So look for more activity on this thread in a bit.
Definately still interrested in that front diff!

Sorry about the wheel bearing trouble tho...

Don't those wheel bearing assemblies come as part of the hub? I believe the hub is $150 at Murrays :thumbdwn:

Well i went over to a buddies today with one of those harbor freight kinkers and what do you know it dont kink the 1" tubing 3/16 tubing i have. So this weekend i''ll be fabing up a new transmission mount to use with the SAS. It will have a skid plate for the transfer on it.

it was the outer bearing in the housing. I am gonna press it out and press in a new one should be fun.

Anyways. I am searching for a local shop to cut down the axles i want to get. Need to find a place that can do it before i buy. If not its a great excuse to go full width just more $$$ ( new gears etc..)

If i have time this weekend i plan on fixing my front diff so when i get back in three weeks i can do a run to URE with a few buds and candiates.

r37ribution if i get my little bonus i've been waiting on i can pull the carrier and ship that will save some money for you, but it will be just a "little" while due to upcoming training

You can do this yourself if you have the time - All you need are new axle shafts - or have the existing shafts cut and re-splined. In fact, I would take this approach - this would let you set the caster angle as you'd need to remove the inner knuckles or "C"s

oh you mean where the CV slides into? i havent worked on the front diff yet besides adding fluid lol. haven't worried about it much since i changed the rear gears now that it is useless...

have you pulled the diff cover off yet? how does the fluid/magnet look and the gears? gettin kinda concerned...

any updates on the diff?

pulled every thing apart. its fine. I may of had a bad bearing but the races for it where good and the cv's shaft was preventing the bearings from gettting in the diff. I dont have time to rebuild it right now. wish i did so i could go wheeling this weekend.

Izwack i think i will take the cut the housing myself approach. if i get time I hope to pick up an axle this weekend. and coat the sucker in breakfree. wrapped in plastic or soemthing to make it easy to tear down.

Great idea - thats what I did :D

rant on :

I just spent 800 "fixing" the front end of my x. new everything and crap to get it running so i can go home for christmas. Due to my training status for SF i haven't been home since last x-mas.

I decided to goto URE for a test run. Well I now have to replace a wheel bearing this is b#LLshit i just replaced the D@mn thing (about a year ago) I hate my IFS my align is way off and my Power steering pump blows i can't even turn 33" locked on the trial anymore.

I was gonna wait. Do my SAS in the spring. But i am pissed now. I as going to start scouring the yards for a dana 44 swap it in. No more i thinki can make or crap i need yet another alignment cause my ifs sucks.

heck if i i find a dana 60 first that is going in instead.

I know i am normally calm but i am just a little ticked. I didn't even do a hard trail are URe and my alignment is off

rant off

This is back on again.

theres d44's but the crap load up in my area, 75 bucks a pop.

I still want your front diff...even tho IFS blos ;)

Sorry to hear about all of your trouble, I've had my share too...Blew my heads on my 4.0 and my torque converter. My truck has been OOS for a while now. I hate money!

No one said a SAS was cheap I planned to do it all for $2800. I'm probbaly closer to 4k though :(

I planned on going the cheaper way as well. When i finished up it was over
$4K though. If your going to do it you might as well do it right the first time. I started thinking about using stock shafts, joints, etc... but then i though why? Before i knew it i had $550 in 4340 shafts, and tons of cash spent in smaller but better than OEM parts!!! if your gonna go, go big!!! the more you do now, the less you have to worry about on the trail!!!
