Section525's Sliders

Looks great. You wont have to worry about crushing those rockers now. Hey, I just had an idea about those holes. Why can't you use some of those plastic plugs they use for holding on interior plastic body panels? They have a finished head and the part that goes into the hole have those little fins that keep from coming out. I think about all auto stores carry a generic kind.

Mine is two 2x3's so 6" wide, and it starts about an inch out from the pinch weld. I figured with the way you were designing them that the 2x2 would obviously stick away from the rocker as a step & hi-lift point.

Mine originally started as a single 2x3 (made by Gloria-Extreme4x4), and they weren't protecting the doors, so I added the second 2x3

Well should I cut them off and make the mounts longer putting the 2x3 on the outside of the pinch? Or should I just add a tube on the outside giving me three runners with door protection and a step?

Cut them off and redo the mounts. A third bar would remind me of a ricer with a double wing on the back.

I would put the inside edge of the inner tube even with the pinch weld. Go back and look at your first pic on page two, showing your initial placement.

FYI, I've seen those plugs rookieshooter is talking about over at TSC :)

I was thinking about doing those plugs and hercing below the doors. Still don't know if I want to leave the sliders gray or herc them, or paint them black. Everyone says they look primered still. :( :D

When are you going to bring the Sport over to get hacked on??

i herar someone put masking tape or duct tape over the holes and herc over it and it held up fine.

i wouldnt herc the sliders...If they are gonna get used that will just mean alot of re-hercing...i say just rattle can them, that way you can just paint back over the gouges after a run, thats what i do and its an easy fix. I also vote to cut off the mounts and redo it. They will look overdone, persay, with a third tier on them. Just move the inner part up and out a tad so it butts up against the outside plain of the pinch weld. (with about a half inch gap between all sheetmetal and the sliders).

Just paint them. Herc is do dam $$$ to keep re doing. For the holes from the tupperware. I just used masking tape down the side to cover the holes, and then sprayed that herc stuff over them. Worked great

y'all learn how to use that kinker yet? I was thinkin of doing tube ones. Hey I really need to rebuild that radius arm bracket sometime this week, maybe this coming weekend. You gonna be around? I thought about doing it this weekend but when I thought about it, it was too late cuz the metal shops were closed...

Either herc or grip tape the top of the sliders (if they get moved out far enough to be used as a step :p ) First trip out with them I was parked on a nice steep hill and as I stepped out onto the dusty rockslider I met the rear tire.

I bought grip tape for mine, but still have not put it on. Let me tell you the 4" wide stufff is $$$ too. :(

mix sand and paint...instant grip tape.

Skateboard shoes aren't that expensive, and it's like a foot fetish. Just place it to my lips.

Alright section, let see what you decided to do. :)

Well it's on the back burner right now as I am waiting for the UPS guy to come with my FJ60 steering box. So I have the lawn chair in the driveway, my laptop, and some Brisk Lemonade.

I can't believe I didn't post a picture of the sliders in my paint booth!
