But it didn't start out like this.

We returned from our trip to Colorado Sept 2009 to find this waiting in the yard.

It needs a few little sumthuns--but it is a great start I do think.
Here is where we begin to take over the work started by trukmajik and dejello

O my
Those bushings are a PITA but I got em :)

I hung the new shackles and called it a night because I had to make a last minute winning bid on a 1946 Singer model 15 sewing machine with attachments.

Hrmph! Needs more white :D

Why do you have a Class III hitch? to cut down on your departure angle?

Is the Singer a walking foot model? You need a walking foot to sew your new canopy.

Yeah, it is a walking foot machine.

Hopefully my lovely bride can use it to make me some new panties too.

The hitch was a simple rear tow point.

Tough chick, don't mess with her!

baggie for me thanks

Well, for your entertainment and viewing pleasure today we will fix what was screwed up yesterday.

Yup, if I had actually crawled under for pictures I would have noticed this.

IMG_0841.jpg

While pressing out the old bushing I smashed the passenger side backing plate for bushing support.
The only excuse I can give is I was very tired. I barely managed to even get the press-c clamp thingy up in there.

Anyway, this needs to be fixed so I grabbed a chunk of .120 2x3 , cut a hole on my drill press and cut out a bracket to shape
IMG_0838.jpg

got it to fit

IMG_0840.jpg

Cleaned it and the surrounding area
IMG_0841.jpg

IMG_0842.jpg

Then I made a second plate to wrap the stock support

IMG_0843.jpg

and plan to place it like this after the first plate is welded in place, and weld over it all again

IMG_0844.jpg

IMG_0845.jpg

Think this will work?

I think the "wrap" plate itself will probably be good once welded on.

you know Jon likes his panties Brazilian Style :p: :d

kinda interesting with the frame bushings i just knock mine out with a hammer and large screw driver :dunno:

Well,
I drove a big ol socket into the hole so it wouldn't warp, and bugger welded the stuff together.

Man my little walmart welder sucks. If it would feed wire consistantly I think I could weld with it, but it keeps pausing

I am not showing this until I grind it.

If it's still leaning after all this I'd just throw an add-a-leaf on the left side and call it done. :hammer:

I'd worry about the height of the suspension to the ground. Then adjust the body to the frame after the suspension is level if needed. The best ride and handling etc, will come when the heights from level ground up to the suspension are equal. The looks don't affect performance, and the body is easier to work with as you guys know.

Jon I'm not picking at you, I don't recall everything that you have done so far. I just pointed out the best general goal to shoot for.

Psst, you added more weight to the left side didn't you?

It looks good, now back together.

Well, it's all back together with a 3" block on driver side, 2" block on passenger side and still has a little lean. No change.
The combination of springy springs, and the weight of the transfer case-gas tank seem to be what is doing it.

So, f150 leafs and the bronco 2 gas tank mod are in order.

Stop working on this thing so much, and use it. :)

The plan is to drive it to Uwharrie July 1st.

Lots still left to do and so little time. But yeah I feel the same way,

If you swapped the springs around, then the frame is tweaked. No other explanation. Its no big deal.

Just means it's broke in for you :D

Jon, I think you suffer from OROCD

Off Road Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. :p:
