supercharged 5.0 true fire 98 explorer sport

was finnially able to go for a ride in evil today. also wanted today because its around 28C or around 80F so i would see what kind of heat it would make. well.....

that was a couple of mins after getting on it (top right corner) and i dont mean going through 1, 2, and 3rd. saw it wick up to 180F. moving the nozzle just before the rotors didnt make any difference. i might have to figure out a way to put it after the rotors or under the blower. was about to order a intercooler but they would have to make it, which i knew and would be a week out, but they also didnt have the water inlet rails either.
cant remember if i posted it, but it would come from here.

its 2 1/2 inches tall. hood clearance should be ok, but what i overlooked was firewall clearance. will have to look at that a little closer.

i also made a different pulley bracket. forgot to take a picture of it before i put it on, but looks way cleaner then the one im used to looking at.

with that i also kinda cut up a different thermostat housing. because of holley making this intake so the thermostat is pushed out farther, the bypass hose rests directly on it. had to cut the hose back a far as i could, and also the pipe for the bypass as well. its kinda better, but still up against the pulley bracket.

not that this is going to help my iat's but it will sure help the temps in the truck.
just ordered it btw.

Wow that’s cool! Literally

have had a ton of distractions. first, the truck i was going to flip ended up being a turd. was totaled at one point (that i knew), and who ever fixed it really screwed it up. couldnt see it from the top until you put it on a lift. i did end up selling it to someone that is using it for there summer home truck, which is what it would be good for. bad, had to give up a spare motor. good, still made something from it, just not as much.
the other distraction was my sister and myself managed to sneak my mothers niece on her side from CA that she hasnt seen in around 10 years (20 for me, her and i are 2 of the same as well) for her 82nd birthday, and also my folks 60th anniversary.
i had also told my cousin that i would take her for a ride in evil and scare the hell out of her. havent been able to drive evil in a couple of weeks because of all that was going on. today i figured i would fire her up, wash her and be good on my word......until my dreaded fuel pump issue decided to show up again. this time i figured i would fix this once and for all. the way i wired it was coming out of the holley;s fuel pump relay, then it went to the power distribution box and then ran the way the factory went. this time i bypassed all of it, and sending power to the plug going the the inertia switch on the firewall.
thats when i fount this.

my guess is it got a little crispy when the old pump **** the bed. after bypassing that, now the fuel pump kicks on and off when it should.

Dang and right down near the carpet too!! That truck has enough fire on it already!

Lol

Here I was just excited that Tim found the issue, nevermind the risk that was there.

i actually wanted to drive it to the folks and was going to stop by.

now that things have settled down i can jump back on a few things with evil. the main one is the intake air temps. when i took my cousin for a ride i watched the temps closely the couple of times i nailed it i watched it clime to 190 a few times, then heard major detonation. this was with the meth nozzle just behind the rotors in the supercharger case. once again i ordered a different nozzle but this time against what most people say, this is now under the rotors.

to the left is the iat sensor. to the right is my line going to the vacuum block. not hopeful this will work, but i gotta try because i also learned something else tonight. the intercooler i was going to get will not fit. of all things, it will be way to close to the firewall for the supercharger. didnt see that coming. at the same time even the lowest profile one i found isnt cheap either. so if this doesnt work i may be forced to go back to my old set up which is something i really dont want to do.

Man. Tim I truly hope this gets you to the point your major concern is shredded tires. You are taking this way further than I ever could.

Lesson here is " ls swap it " lol

well, you are kinda at fault for me even dropping a stroker into this thing lol.

as for the ls swap, this is the only thing you drop a ls into

Whilw were on the swap thing, I wonder about the dimenions of a ford 4.6 2v. lol. The trans would bolt right up. Would probably end up in exactly the same place with the same, or different issues that are just as big. Space is a huge issue under the hood.

nooooooooooope. lol. the days of big swaps like that for me are behind me. i have enough problems getting stock stuff swapped as it is lol.

Wankle rotor power is what I’m thinking

welll, its official. as of today i cant use the cooler in the link i posted earlier. was able to get out of work early today and it was also nice so once again i took the blower off and mount the adaptor plate on some spacers i made to bolt everything down. i can get the plate on and thats about it. the rear bolts for it are tucked under the cowl as it comes up the firewall. after a little shoving around the supercharger is a tad off. i could always ding the cowl a bit and make it work, however where the back of the hood rests on the cowl, it also nails the top of the supercharger. game over. after finding a video were some guy used a m122 one a ls, he also had a meth nozzle mounted in the supercharger case in the same spot i did. mine didnt matter where i put it, it made no difference. i did notice however he had drilled a hole for what looked like a nos injector at the front of the base. that is actually where i wanted it in hopes the supercharger would grab any fluid sprayed at it and toss it evenly around unlike my last post. might try it but im also worried if i do and that doesnt work i might be destroying a base that i will be selling later on.

took a leap of faith today.
i drilled and tapped a hole to move the meth nozzle to the front of the base. i also did it at a small angle so it wasnt shooting up as much into the rotors (still does but not as bad). i have a picture of it but some people (including me :pics:) are having a hard time posting pictures. the results are the same. im getting a little confused here. i have moved the nozzle 3 times, and it made zero difference. im at the point now i believe where i either pull it all off and put the old set up back on which means it will foul the rear plugs if it sits idling too long or buy another intercooler brick and hope i can make a intercooler that will fit.
not a happy camper.

Im thinking if you added multiple nozzles and sprayed the **** out of it you could bring wot temps down. But, your part throttle iats will still be super high with all that recirculating boosted air.

You have an issue, and none of us can help. The more i learn, the more i dont see a way out.

Turbo creates its own special issues...i do t see that getting you where you expect to be either.

Your on the ragged edge.
