3800 M90 Build

Hahaha......
Boosting the hell out of it does intrigue me. Unfortunately, reality strikes. I'd be extremely happy with a good solid, reliable build pulling an extra 50 horse. Great experience gained thru pulling something like this off.
I pm'd toreadorranger to see if he is still interested in working on the project. If not, I mentioned I'd be interested in taking all his project pieces off his hands.

I did sent rpcaster an email a while back, but there was no response. I guess I could try again.

so a little more research and ive changed my mind on running my 66mm bbk,its just to small!!!the inlet of the charger is going to be 75.5 so i wanna use as much of that as possible.the stock 3 gen gm 3800 use a 69mm tb and the genV uses a 72mm.many people post up that they go with a Cadillac Northstar V8 75mm unit after the sc has been ported to 75.5mm and they report huge gains.ive got it all figure out now.im going to run a 75mm tb from a mustang and it comes with a tb spacer.it also has the same iac but mounts to the tb not the intake tube and the same type of tps also.that spacer is going to be welded to the end of 3' pipe that has one 90* bend in it.that will be how i mount the tb to it.then on the other end after the 90* bend im going to cut the pipe at a 45* angle and spin the piece i cut off and weld t back on making a sharp tight 90* into the charger.that end will be welded into a gm supercharger to throttle body plate spacer.so ill end up with and 3' pipe witch is 73mm(very close to 75mm) with an 75mm sc mount and a 75mm tb mount on each end of the pipe,a new 75mm intake manifold.it will be 75mm at the charger,73mm at the pipe,75mm at throttle body and 76mm at the maf
here is links to where im getting everything
im just getting the plate out of this kit,hes throwing it in when he does my charger

Perhaps I misunderstood something here but are you planning on making your "upper intake" extend about 3' somewhere? Why are you making it so long? And if you indeed intend to do so then I would recommend that you go with a material thicker than what the wall thickness of that aluminum is. It would be different if it were just another piece of pipe in the ducting for a suparcharger; but in your case one side of it will be HARD mounted to the blower while the other has a bit of weight resting on it with a long fulcrum, let alone the CAI hanging off of it. I suggest if you want to make it that long then switch to steel tubing and flanges. If you really want to use alum then I suggest you make the upper intake shorter for better structural rigidity.

Im remaking this piece.it is very small and uses a stock 4.0tb.its not long at all, come about 8" from the back of the charger, the pipe is only 2' to start with and im cutting one side off 8".it will be fine the tb don't weigh anything and the cai will be supported

Ok, big difference in length than what I seen in the other post.

By the way.......HOLY CRAPTASTIC FABRICATION! I honestly could confuse that thing in the picture with a turd! I am glad to hear that you are remaking the previous persons piece. I am scared to see any other parts made by that guy. Some people just should not make their own stuff.

The sc mount is very well made.yea this piece looks like they ran out of time and was just trying to make something work plus he was having clearance issues with the fire wall.all the pics are on page 8

So the plan for tomorrow is to drop the tank and put the 255lph in and remove my bbk and underdrive pulley.need to degresse and paint they sohc oil pan so i can put it on next week.both are up here for sale and believe the bbk is pending.im also waiting to hear back from a guy over on the mustangs forum about a new 5.0 75mm race version tb and spacer.i really didn't want the race version but ill take if the price is right.i got my accord back now and for some reason the tranny is shifting just fine, think it just sucked something up .so this project is on the front burner and the flame is on;)

Beautiful!
I can hardly wait.

I can hardly wait.

YOU!!! shoot i haven't slept in two weeks!!been up drawing, doing math, measuring, researching etc etc etc.......its still going to be awhile tho, have to wait for the maf tune and the new housing, that can take up to three weeks.still need those spacers and new rockers also

I just checked on the spacers. Not a peep from tee-rev yet.
It sounds like he owns his own machine shop, so if he has other work that pays, we get pushed down the ladder. I don't even want to pm him and risk pissing him off.

My SCT showed up today. I have emailed Henson Performance the required info, and asked for advice on my supercharger ordeal.

I'm thinking your right. I'll see if I can send him a couple hundred and send the rest to him in January.
Alternator puked its guts last night. Charged the battery over night and rolled the dice on getting to work this morning. New alternator installed in the parking lot at work. Frozen fingers.

Well didn't get anything done this weekend.i didn't wake up till after noon and it was freezing out and had to put the Christmas tree and lights up.i got the bbk off and sold that was it.was going to do the fuel pump but then i remembered i broke the filler neck when i was mounting my big ass 8.5 gal air tank under my car so i decided i would wait to drop the tank till i went andgot a new neck.i did order my 75mm 5.0 tb with the black spacer i need though, another $285 gone!i also ordered all the piping i need for everything and all the couplings for the piping for the intake, another $80 gone!!think i need to post up what I've bought and where i am at with cost right now:(way over what i wanted:(

O GOD WHY DID I DO THIS AGAIN!!!??!

all ready have bought !!!
charger kit-$550
injectors-$174
fuel pump-$102
TB&spacer -$285
maf-$110
all piping and couplings-$81
f-150 steering wheel gauge pod-$39
for a grand total of $1347 spent

still to buy!!
p+p charger-$450
maf tune-$75
boost gauge-$150
pay some one to weld and something secret-$250(custom work Idk final cost)
That's another $975 so just to get this thing running and no chip or main tune im looking at $2322!!!!:((:(:(:(given A LOT of stuff i didn't have to have or could have gotten by something smaller and cheaper but figured if im going in might as well go all in!!if i blow this bottom end up ill take the whole top end and charger and put it on a 4.0 with forged stroked bottom end with copper head gaskets and studs and put it in a ranger, turn the boost up to about 20!!!i would throw a stock 5.0 in this truck

Well if it makes you feel any better I have $30k under the hood of my explorer and closing in on $20k under the hood of my G8. I wish I had only spent a bit over $2k. Modding is a bug man. Once you catch it then it is hard to stop. Keep plugging away.

By the way. Why in the hell is your boost gauge $150?!?!??? Unless you are getting some sort of real special one then I don't see you spending more than $50-$75 and less if buying used.

Do you have a link anywhere to the gauge cluster under your ash tray? That seems like the best spot to put them. I'd only need Wideband o2, and boost.

Also, I can hardly wait to see what the 'secret' welding is about. ah, the suspense.
