Hey there fellow mass resident! Im in Townsend, just south of nashua NH, and ive got a 1991 eddie bauer. Nice to see someone else from massachusetts. Your mountaineer sounds sweet, and if your into off roading (which i doubt with a truck that nice you are very big on off roading) we should go sometime. And if your going to get some rockford subwoofers, dont get the punch z's. i have gone through 3 or 4 of those subs in my truck in the past 3 months. spend the extra money and get a set of HE2's.

Fred - I really want to get into off-roading, now that I have the hardware to do it! What are some good places to go in new england?

Thanks for the advice on the rockfords - but too late - I already have them. They're about a year old, I had them in my previous vehicle and I'm moving them over into the mountaineer. So far they're still sounding great, but I haven't pushed them that hard.

whel i found out my problem on blowing the punch z's was that i was pushing 400 waats through them, so they kept on popping. there are lots of god places to go off roading in mass, but my favorite is actually in new hampshire. there is a great place to go off roading in Templeton MA, which is about 15 miles past lemonster on route 2. ive been told there is a good place in milford MA, reight off route 495. its kinda hard to find places, and when you do, make sure you tread lightly and dont pollute, or it will be taken away soooo fast it will make your head spin. my ex needs a little work before its trail ready again (blown hub and bushings replaced). but after that well have to go up to templeton or something.

Wheelin in MA is mostly at your own risk.... Which means you can be cause if your tresspassing and charged a fine.

The Place your talking about in Milford Mass has already been closed due to over use buy Off-roaders, Dirt Bikes, Quads, and more....

actually most places in NH are at your own risk too!

BUT do not think that becasue there is no place to wheel legally that its over! There are a few clubs that belong to an Association of clubs in the New England area that have been working hard at finding LEGAL places for us to wheel. and If your a member of one of these clubs you can have access to the areas that they gain permission to use.

say for instance you are on some land that the Association has gained permission to use, and a land owner or a neighbor see's you.... but your not there on a weekend that the association said they would be there... then you COULD make the Land owner angry and in turn could make him change his mind on letting the association use the land....

My Point here is Join a Club..... a Club has a Voice and a Voice gets heard.... which in turns get you Legal Land to wheel on!!

Thanks for the info on the clubs CBoug, I'm going to check them out! I've been doing some research and pretty much found the same thing. I was surprised to learn that all wheeling in NH is illegal though. I spend summers on Cape Cod and there are legal trails and beeches to wheel on, but you need a permit. I think I'm going to start there for now :)

ALL wheeling in NH is illegal??? there's a sand pit with several small trails off it in West Lebanon, NH that is frequented by off-roaders, myself included. No one has ever been busted there, that i know of. In fact it looks like it was made specifically for 4-wheeling. Kids in my bro's auto-shop in high school would often go there during lunch, so I highly doubt the cops are clueless...

Is it Public or Private land?
Do you have Written Land owners Permission?

Basically you need Written proof that you can legally wheel on said land.....

I don't know if you've been there or not, but it's right near the waste disposal plant. Tucked between there and a trucking company. the other trails are across the street, and tie into a boat-launching ramp. Do you know where I'm talking about? I know most of you rarely come up this far north... ;)
