its gunna take a while

wow  I have been quietly watching this- couldn't really offer any advice. I am going to install one of these soon, I hope it goes better for me. A whole rear end swap seems like a good choice now, it sucks you have to cut apart your old one. :(

i wouldnt be afraid of putting it in evan. Its not really a tough job, it just didnt seem to go right for me. Everything ive read says its a easy job. I just seem to be having a bad luck streak with vehicles lately lol.

I would like to thank everyone here for thier help and advice. This is a great site, with great people. Of course thats why i paid the money to be elite a few weeks ago to help out this site....thanks everyone.

Put a deposit on the new rear end today, will complete the purchase when i get paid. When swapping rear ends is there anything special to look for or pay attention to?? or is it pretty much a unbolt the old and bolt in the new???

Also the 4.10's should be a huge improvement over the 3.27's with my 32's right??

you have a 2wd right? I ask because the different ratio would require you to also regear the front if you have a 4wd/AWD vehicle.

But yeah a rear end swap is all bolt ons.

yeah im only a 2wd so no front re-gear needed. That was the whole point of the locker was to give me more off-road capability lol...so much for that for now.

The other good thing is the new rear end at least comes with a LS so that should help some with the offroad traction. Ill have to search and find some good lockers that can be installed in a LS rear end.

The new rear end is complete disc to disc so i wont have to swap parts between the two. Just take one out and put the other one in, cant be any easier than that.

Thats what i figured Froader. The explorer will be down for a few weeks, but ive already been offered 1200 for the turbo kit that used to belong to the "buddy". I think ill keep the rest of the money for labor and "pan and suffering". Lmao.

Should be enough leftover to get my new 32's.

I might be interested in the locker if you ever get it out.

Might have an issue stuffing 33's with just a tt/shackles. I was thinking about that, and i do have an AAL in the mail from a member on here. Maybe just longer torsion bolts for now....Hmmm now you got me thinking lol...the wife's gonna kill me. She hates it when i think, it usually costs money.

i dont like body lifts either. Maybe ill just hold off on the tires and get some edge spindles with the AAL and that would clear 33's for sure....not really sure yet, i still have to sell the turbo kit to re-coup the money ive already put out to get the rear end. If i dont sell it as quick as i hope the im gonna be sleeping on the couch....lol.

Currently dealing with Offroadlocker.com's customer service and tech support to get replacement c-clip covers/spacers. All i can say is wow, they have excellent customer service and tech support. i told them what happened and they are sending me new spacers free of charge. So it looks like i will be able to salvage the locker after all and sell it. now i just gotta get it back out lol.

Ive been looking into lockers alot more the past few days and have decided that a "lunchbox" style isnt the best for me. The wife drives my explorer alot and i dont trust her going around corners in the rain with one

I think im just gonna put the money out if a few months for a selectable locker such as the ARB. Can the arb be used with a LS differential??

Ive gotten a couple offers for the aussie locker since i started telling my story, and now it looks like im 100% sure ill be able to salvage it once the old rear end is out.

I need the new rear end for the gears anyways so i dont fry my transmission with 32's or even 33's with 3.27's. Thats alot of load on an already weak v-6 tranny.
