Great write-up and pics Darkman.

Now, I can see the switchbacks look like.
I would definitely do Black Bear if I was going.

I'm not scared!

Rick, I think we need to have a "Pirates of Serious Explorations" group.

And initiation into the group would be to do Black Bear pass blind folded with a navigator in the passenger seat.

What do you think? :D

Is that what the bad part looks like? it doesn't look that bad.

back from Ouray, return again for Lbr Day!

Ok HVAC and ahhjaws, count me in for 2. I just got back from 4wheeling most of lower Southwest-CO and had a blast.

My wifey and I are working on Labor Day plans, and I'd love to make it out. Count me in as a tentative!

btw- that pics great! sent that on the folks i was out with!

That's not the bad part... The women was driving and tried to hug the hill. She hugged it to close and it lifted her up and flopped her over.

Char has a three week break starting Sep. 29. What would the weather be like then? Roads still open?? Would that be in the peak of the colors? I loved Ouray that was a great little town and the wheelin' out there is spectacular.

From what I remember, End of Sept/Early Oct. you might catch the tail end of the leaves, or they might be all gone, depending on weather. By mid-Oct, it's going to start snowing at high elev.

So, that time frame would be pretty good for a colors run, but a couple weeks earlier would be better.

Then again, it IS Colorado. The weather (and trees) are anything but predictable.

You gotta remember the drought too, the leaves turn early.

Sorry I haven't gotten the map up yet. The one I made won't load, so I'm having my mom e-mail me the origional. Hopefully I'll have it sometime tomarrow.

Lets do it.

Its been 100 degrees here lately, its not gonna cool off anytime that soon........

The map is to their old place, not where the house is.

Hvac, I'm planning to leave sometime Friday (I'm trying o get the day off). If I can't, I'll leave here sometime around 7:00 or so. If you want to meet up let me know.

Well I might not be able to make it for the saturday run due to a last minute family reunion. I will see what day it is and probably be there for the other days. I'll let you know.
