Alright, any tips for getting the engine back on the transmission? Looking around the starter location, i swear the bolt holes are lined up, but i still can't get it to slide in, stays like an inch away. I've shimmied it around, moved up, down, changed tilt angles, nothings working. Thoughts here..?
 






Not 100% sure they're even touching? I can't see exactly what's stopping it

Not an answer to your quastion, but one thing I remember ab reinstalling autos is make sure the cooler lines are CLEANNNNNNNN we get dirt in them over time as they sit we use the leaf blower to blow dirt out of the garage etc and thats junk in the trans that circulates. It proaly isnt catastrophic by any means but I've certianly noticed the dust that gets into the line when I have the cooler lines off for a while if i dont plug them/flush before i put it back in.

Yeah, I plan to clean 'em some, don't worry, besides, I'm going to change all the fluid and filter anyway

Does the trans need jacked up to mate up? Sometimes it helps to spin it until it pops into place. Sorry Im not much help hoenstly cant tell what Im looking at in the pic maybe Im just too tired.

Already jacked up and almost hitting the firewall. Cannot figure it out..
 












Are you sure the torque converter didn't pop out forward? Spin it clockwise, pushing in. See if it goes in another half inch or so

Nope, clockwise it stops. And after like an hour, finally with some help, got it to slide in, aligned just right..took everything we had to hold it in that spot long enough to get a bolt in, even though it aligned, the backing plate still sat off, so I had to climb under, pry it to the side, which allowed me to finally get the bottom two in. Man this was definitely the worst part of this whole thing
 






When I did a clutch replacement on mine a long time ago I had a similar problem. After several hours we found that there was a wiring connection on top of the transmission bell housing that hung down enough to get caught in the gap and prevent the engine and xmission from mating completely. Couldnt see it from under.

Might want to double check there isn't a wiring connection getting squished.

Thankfully wasn't my case, questioned that several times over the hours and made sure they weren't in the way. Just for the life of me, couldn't get the torque converter bolts along with the cylinder (whatever it's called in the middle of it) to fully line up, or when I did, I couldn't really push it in while holding it in place, so help finally arrived and after another hour we got her in. Two bottom bolts in, top bolt in, and one side bolt. Now waiting on my phone and light to recharge so I can finish bolting them together and set them fully back down. But dad gum, I don't look forward to doing that again, appreciate the advice there!

Definitely squished my poor oil cooler a time or two though! Shifting the engine around to reposition, engine sat on it a few times, still decent but the top fins definitely need re-bending! Lmao
 






So, I decided to be smart, everything's bolted in, but decided to try and spin the crank, doesn't move. I can still move it backwards, won't move it far back for obvious reasons, but then it moves back clockwise and just stops, it hits the same point, and stops. Can even hear it hit that spot. Any ideas..? Don't tell me the torque convertor is fricked and I have to disconnect everything again.
Was trying to get the nuts back on the torque convertor bolts, needed to spin it some to get a socket on it and it won't spin.
