Where are you guys with first generation fibreglass hoods and fenders getting them from?

I'm not really too keen on doing the second generation conversion.

I think they get them from Perrys??

I looked at Perry's website and all it lists is the second generation and sport trac conversions.

Call perrys, I think they are in the process of changing there site and haven't got them up yet.

perrys has like 4 sites, did you try glasswerx (same family)?
There is alot of different glass for your truck available

Do you have a website for this glasswerx? I searched and there seem to be dozens of places called glasswerx but none of them sell body parts.

Glassworks as I understand it is Perrys all owned by the same Mcneil family??

Perrys is in Mexico where its made and Glassworks sells it in So Cal :)

At least that is what I have gathered

maybe Justin or Perry will chime in here

No, Tim is not part of the McNeil family. I think the family is Perry's, McNeil Offroad and one other that I can't think of right now, but it's not Glassworks.

Paul, Perry's should have the first gen glass. I can't imagine they stopped making them.

Now the hood...I'm not sure if he had a mold or not, but Paul Bredehoft's is a ranger hood with the toyota SC scoop. Looks pretty pimp. He probably just graphs it in after you tell him what you want. I'll find a pic of Paul's.

That's it... haha

Here is a pic of Paul's ranger hood with the Toyota scoop.

Do any of these sites sell stock type fiberglass fenders? And if so, what kind of weight reduction would this bring? I have been loading mine with extra pounds, and I already want a fiberglass cowl hood.

The glass fenders aren't any lighter than the stock metal ones. They have to be thick enough to be structurally sound which adds to the weight of each one. I don't think they make stock size either, I think the smallest would be like a 3" pull.

if you go on the perrys webiste click on like 91-94 2 door explorer and it has the first gen fenders there.....fenders arent really for weight, just to cover your extra wide tires from your mods to keep rocks and other crud from flyin into bad places.... they make a 4" and 6" front fender kit i think

i think a glass hood might be lighter than the stock 850,000 lb explorer hood though

Actually I don't find the stock hood to be all that heavy. I don't really care about saving weight, I just don't want to do a whole ton of bodywork to flare steel fenders and my hood is rusty.

There is no listing for first gen fenders on Perry's website that is why I posted this thread... ah... I see it now. I was looking at the drop down menu but it's not there, I should have clicked on the page.

I think they make a 2" flare for the first gen, and if you ask nicely they may make a no flare with jsut large wheel opening.

Fiberglass is easy to repair, it bends quite a bit, and it looks cool!
With that said I will likely ditch mine down the road hahaha as the BII becomes more toy, but man I sure love the look!

I want a flare. I just don't want to convert to second generation.

89-94 ranger glass should be 100% the same.
I would call Fiberwerxs or Perrys they will know

No the Ranger stuff has an extra body crease that Explorers don't have.

I've sent an e-mail to Perry's.
