Going Electric?

You are a smart man. I will be doing the same when I retire and get out of the suburban hell hole I currently live in. Solar, a good battery bank AND a well are tops on list.

How much does a well cost where you are? I've talked with friends who drilled wells for their new houses or extra cabins etc. The cost is often near $10k around here.

I had a daydream about a house renovation, and I pondered what a buried water tank would do, and cost. I imagined a 1000+ gallon tank, with a well pump to use it, for just in an emergency when the water goes out. We get outages at least twice a year in my area, I thought of that while aiming for a back up generator for the house.

I agree we should have a choice on what we want instead of having it forced on us I'm not against EVs I just don't like the idea of the government being able to control it
They can " control" gas too.

Our government has always been able to control everything. Nothing new here.

I've lived under at least 16 different administrations. They come and go.

Yeah, your right man

I like the older gas cars because if crap hits the fan, we can find fuel for them to run on whereas with EVs they can shut them down and that's it

Yes, but they have never been this evil before. Today they are 50 times worse than when "we" were younger, we're over the tipping point of socialism now.

The government is currently responsible for the gas prices dropping by around $0.75 a gallon in the last 2-3 months, ... why would they do that?

So we'd save money. Doing their job.

The cost of a well depends on its depth. It can run from $6k to $15k. Some wells in my area can go over 600 feet to get a good yield. The upside to a deep well is they are usually more dependable and their flow rates are higher.

Unless you are in an area where it freezes hard, above ground tanks are less expensive and easier to maintain. Below ground tanks have to be structurally strong to retain the force of the earth against them when they are empty or at a lower water level. Then you also have to worry about buoyancy issues. Plus, if you have enough rooftop area to keep above ground tanks filled they will allow gravity flow to toilets, sinks, shower etc. if power goes out. Plus, roof water is relatively clean and probably doesn't need to be treated as much, if at all, for some uses.

Funny how even a good thing is "working against us " in some people's view.
A scalpel can save your life or cut your throat. It all depends on how it is used.

i see the logic, but playing devils advocate, one could say you can bring solar panels for example to generate a large quantity of energy to charge your EV, at least at home, long distance is a gamble.

that said, but for a gasser you can being gas cans, and the likelihood of finding a gas station is higher. gassers are also simpler to work on. ok in theory ev is simpler since less moving parts, but im still learning about them ;)

While browsing WeChat, I found some interesting electric and hybrid cars. What got my attention is they say explorer on the front. These things are small, makes me wonder how far they go on a charge?

Yeah i mean i know of places to get fuel if crap goes nuts but yeah in theory you could take solar panels but then again 5 minutes to put gas in or 2 hours charging by solar

was that the one that comes in a box? was it 3 grand about? or am i thinking of another similiar thing. could see that if you have a small farm or something or an extra long driveway @410Fortune ;)

true true, even supercharging i cant deal with 30 mins is too long i can be in and out gassing in 10 mins from empty max. i mean i suppose in theory you could charge even in the middle of nowhere providing its sunny, cant gas in the middle of nowhere. pros and cons to each 🤣 and this is why im not a politician, im split on everything
