i need a supercharging plan..

Some people just start tearing in because they have a vision of how great its going to be. Then when they have no time and barely any money to get it done and the trucks all torn apart, parts all over the place, parts not fitting, frustrated and so on....Then they just give up an sell the parts off because they don't even want to deal with it.

just bought a used supercharger package...hopefully not a scam, 950$ shipped

m90 with chrome rotors for higher boost! 2.8 pulley
the caster supercharger kit..
30# injectors (6)
mustang GT MAF
autometer boost/vac, and fuel pressure

27K miles on the unit

and ya!..and i just picked up a 2003 SOHC 81K miles for 636$, so thats where the process is at right now, gonna get it up on a stand soon enough and start clawing away at it

Lets see some pics.

Chrome rotors? I think you mean ceramic coated. Ceramic coated rotors tighten up the tolerance between the rotor case and rotors. Good for approx 5 ponies.

Make sure you also get a logger like an XCall III so you can tune it properly. Remember, its ALL in the tuning.

Yes--tuning tuning tuning--do not skimp in that area--

Another thought-
What are your plans for vacuum? You'll need a way to generate some for your brakes, hvac, and egr system during positive boost situations-

here is the thread http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238597 it should be here about tuesday he said..

and the friend wants to just hook the charger up to my stock engine and run that till i get the built engine going in the spring...but i know im gonna need a tune...for both (if i put it on now..) im very rookie at this, so im wondering if you can do the tuning yourself, is that what those SCT tuners are for? or is that just to get you going to bring it to someone to tune...

is the "tune" that the local shop is going to do, the same tune that the SCT tuners and such will do...

i was told that the guy from bamachips knows the 4.0s well and does a great job tunning, but im nowhere near alabama, but might see if he can send me something..

cause if they are the same kinda tunes from the shop and these tuners, i could just get like 3 tunes, 1 for the stock engine with charger, and 2 that deal with the built engine and charger??

No being a rookie like most of us you don't want to try and tune it yourself. And the X Cal three can't do most anyways it just allows you to put the tune on the truck and to log what the truck is doing so you can have the tune changed for best performance at WOT and around town. Talk or PM jah81592 on this forum. He is your best bet for tuning. Almost everyone on here uses James and ALL are very happy with what he is able to do and the customer service is fantastic. You can get the tuner and things through him, you wont regret it. DONT SKIMP ON THE TUNE :)

we just installed the supercharger onto the stock engine that i have in the truck now with the JBA shortys, and straight pipe..and it hauls some ass, not as much as some peoples, but some ponies raging under the hood..
the swap took probably 7 hours total, with 1 hour for lunch and 30 minutes for the kids computer to load up to get instructions

now just gotta build the other and swap that in..

i dont know how to post pictures

Did you get it tuned yet?

Glad to see that you followed through with the install. I cannot say how many people I have talked to over the years who were real big talkers but not much when it came to action. Always happy to see when a person shatters that mold!

yaa i still question why there is a supercharger on the truck...but next step is to built that engine sitting in my barn...

noo i didnt get it tuned, cause ron caster said that he ran the stock tune...how much is a tune? can someone just send me a tune or do i have to be on a dyno and such?

How many times was it recommended by various people in here that you get the truck tuned after the supercharger install? I don't mean to get on your ass too much here but we don't give that advice for our health. You need a tune because the calibration of various things will be out of whack now that your s/c is on. While Ron is a nice guy and can do some decent machining I don't believe he has any custom tuning experience. The fella's here that recommended that you get your truck tuned, including me, do. Just because someone else "has done it" doesn't mean that it is a good thing to do. I have seen guys running 500+rwhp on a totally stock 4.6 V8 SOHC engine. They were very very lucky but that doesn't mean that you will be.

If you pay attention to the advice that we give you in here then you will not be lead astray. There are some of us in here that have been doing this stuff for many many years. We are here to help you attain your goals but if you decide not to pay attention then don't be surprised when you screw something in your truck up.

If you are anywhere near Alabama then give James a call and have him take care of tuning you. If not then find a local SCT tuner who has a good reputation and have them tune your truck in person. The cost will depend on what the tuner charges, how long the tune takes, and how much the dyno shop charges for dyno time.

Good to see you got it on! Props. And YES get that thing tuned before it fails on you.

soo im going to get the truck tuned next week..they are out for the holidays and booked monday/tuesday next week...im gonna try not to drive it that much...

soo the assumtion is, what one guy does might not work for the next on the "similar" truck? car applications are different? is what im getting.

soo you guys think its definately the tune and that i dont have a leak, cause i had sprayed with richening mixture (carb cleaner) to see if it would raise in RPM and it didnt..

Glad to hear that you are getting that thing tuned! :) Well worth your money and effort and not to mention the longevity, and performance of your engine! Who is tuning it for you?

i think im going to quintin brothers in my town....but we have found something else to ponder, http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238597 4th picture there...

is that sensor the IAT, we thought that was a electronic boost gauge or something in install so we just taped it off and its not connected right now...sooo i think that needs to be done!?!?!?! but would that create a lean condition?

Yeah that's the AIT sensor. Make sure you put that back ASAP. Don't drive without it. Your computer has no idea what your A/F is.
