If I were to put a carrier in your Ex I would stay away from the Auburn units, they are not rebuildable. I would put the factory Trac-Lok back in and call it a day. The rebuild kit (m-4700b) is around $45 and with you having 31T axles you won't have any problems whatsoever. I am running a Trac-Lok carrier with stacked clutches and have had zero probs to date.

Its Crapola, even with a Supercharger I doubt you would see that power increase. The V6 ohv just can't bring it, its a garden variety people mover.

Look at Superman the movie. Prime example of modesty at its finest. Clark Kent... Most would have summed him up as a dorky, funny looking, clumsy fraction of a man. However, when he changed into his TRUE FORM of Superman all were in total awe... One of the reasons for this was that he was truly an amazing creation. The other??? Because NO ONE EXPECTED IT! The exact goes for making an Explorer fast. I have MUCH more respect for someone that can get a vehicle that is not made to go fast, actually go fast. It takes one heck of allot more balls, talent and skill to transform an expectantly slow vehicle into a deviously fast machine. You see a Mustang Cobra win a race and while it is cool, you kind of expect it and go on to forget about it 10 minutes later. You see an Explorer blow the doors off of that same Mustang Cobra and people will talk about it for weeks. A won race with a sleeper vehicle is exponentially more enjoyable than if people had expected you to win from the get-go. There is something to be said about the absolute astonishment, amazement, and jealousy that a sleeper vehicle creates. There is no other vehicle I would rather create, which is why this sweet disease has influenced me to invest over $60,000 in total funds into my project sleeper Explorer. Bottom line, with the money I have spent I could have an 8 second Cobra, but everyone has one of those... Ask yourself, how many people do you see driving a 10 second Explorer??? Nuff said...



If that doesn't either make your wife cry with tears of joy and swoop you up in an apologetic embrace.... or.... make her puke.... then I don't know what will.

To the best of my knowledge, I have around $1677 in mods so far. There's probably a few little pedly things I forgot to calculate but...

When it's all said and done, (For the N/A goal) I'll be looking at;

$285 - Crank Pulley
$100 - Coil
$400 - Dyno tune
$400 - Headers
*this will more than likely get the HP goal for a total of $2862
$250 - Ford Racing posi trac diff.
$150 - 4:10 Gears
$125 - Royal Purple fluids
*this will more than likely get me into the 14's (VERY HIGH 14'S) for a total of $3387.

I'm thinking about getting some light weight seats. Not full out racing but something nice for the street.

Remember guys; I've done A LOT of weight reductions so, yes, it is possible.

My biggest obstacles have been:
1-My wife.
2-My account being hacked.
3-Researching to find the right stuff.
4-the time needed to install.


No, I didn't give up. Almost had to but I'm still going.

I can only imagine the struggles that occur with something more challenging like a turbo, or a motor swap/rebuild. My goal is very minor compared to this.

I am waaay too bullheaded for this one. But then again, since I am a teacher I know a little about psycology which means I am able to flip it around on here pretty easily. hehe. Sometimes she gets me pretty good though.
