I'll call you. I've not talked to Cory yet to finalize plans for sunday, but that is my plan.

Happy trails!!

Got my scout steering box via ups tonight. The guy had already painted it and cleaned up for me so that i didn't have to, nice of him huh!

Happy trails!!

Reggie, i will be at Corys at about 9:30 or 10 sunday morning, and i will probably be there or with him until about 1 or so, so you can come by his shop or what ever you'd like.

Happy trails!!

cool that'll work, i just gotta get up a lil early.

Cory's house or shop?

EDIT, oops i just seen shop

Finally got the rear regeared. We fought with getting my locker out and i called him today and he said he was able to get it out and get the new gears, he said he put the open carrier back in it for now, i'll put the locker in later.

Everything looks good so far. I'm going to trailer my explorer back home tomorrow then get all my stuff loaded up tomorrow evening and head out around 6 sunday morning.

Happy trails!!

It only takes you 4 hours to get here? Or is 10:00 too early?

It normally takes about 3 hours, but give me around 4 hours with the weather and pulling a trailer. I'll be there for a few hours, so when ever you want to come is fine.

Happy trails!!

Have a good trip and be safe Josh! Wave to the "YUPPIE" for me.:D

You gonna leave your wheels/tires out there?

what year cherokees has the coil spring d30?
also is it the same as the d30 in the xj?

I am going to go hunting for one this weekend and have a few questions?

could i use the stock jeep springs?
stock jeep steering box?
stock radius arms, tie rod, and trac bar?
Brake lines?

anything else i should be looking for? I am trying to do this as cheap as i can and upgrade stuff as it is needed.

also i am going from 2wd to 4wd so i will have to get the manual locking hub conversion right?

Also what do you think is a fair price for the complete front end out of a wrangler disc to disc with calipers radius arms, tie rod, coils tracbars. etc. guy quoted me 600 for all, is that good or should i offer him less?
Thanks Jeff

WAY TOO MUCH!!!! I would put it in the ballpark of $300.

$200 for the cable setup?

what setup is that? I talked to a guy at 4 wheel parts and he told me that the only conversion kit for manual hubs was $800 bucks? This was for a 97 tj axle, is the xj different?

also if you find that vac setup you were talkin about i would like to see that too. I looked and couldnt find it.

also what springs did you use and how much lift did they give you?

thanks Jeff

I gave 200 bucks for my axle. Calipers and steering links were included. There is no way i'd give 600 for a D30, you could get a nice D44 for that.

I've not got any of the suspension components yet, that will be up to Cory when he figures it out.

The cable setup is a manual "switch" for the D30. If and when you get a D30, take the vacuum actuator off, 4 small bolts and you can move that fork with your hand, while moving it, put your fingers over the vacuum line holes and you'll stop it, you are stopping it by cutting off the air to it. Really simpe, there are only 3 lines on there, you can figure it out. It is only a temp. fix until i feel like forking out $200 for the cable.

Don't worry about the manual locking hubs, you won't need them, it is a HUGE was of money on the D30. They aren't very reliable.

Robb, i'll say hi to the Yuppie for you! Yeah i'm going to leave my tires there. If Cory wants we'll put them on there and maybe cycle the suspension if he wants, but that depends on if he's got any of the steering done.

I got my baby last night. Trailered her home in the snow. My tow rig did really well, first time i've towed with it. Cruised right along in OD.

Yomie, see ya tomorrow.

Happy trails!!

you have a link for the cable setup? Do you know if cory is going to use the coil buckets from te jeep?

I don't have a link for the cable, i've never looked it up on the net, just been told about it.

All i know is Cory is going to use 3.5" Wild horse springs for 8" of lift, so that's what i've got so far!

Happy trails!!

is he making new buckets for the coil springs or will the EB springs fit in the jeep ones? (assuming your axle had the mounts for coilsprings)

Not using Jeep buckets.

I have a possible setup that would allow you to adjust the ride height.

The tricky part will be positioning the coil bucket and scout box.

JoshC, you should check out the new Peterson's 4 Wheel off-road. They have an article on a 30 spline Dana 30. It also has ARB air locker. Def. check it.
