I think we have a communication problem here. I am talking about how slow I believe the S197 V6 Mustangs are in stock form and you keep bringing up what mods can do to TBW. Like I said before, in modded form any vehicle even an Explorer can be fast. I have seen 9 second turbo 4 banger Mustangs and even 9 second turbo 3.8 V6 Mustang's. Just because a few examples can be made to go fast does not negate the fact that those cars in V6 form are not fast. Being that they are not fast it is presumable that a person should not be nearly as shocked when they beat one. With the V6 model the name Mustang does not necessarily equal "fast". With that said, it is my personal belief that a vehicle of that power should not be present in a "sports car" model of car. That is not just my preference for V8's talking either. If that 6'er had a V6 engine with more power in it then that would be fine with me. I just think that 210 hp coming out of a V6 Mustang doesn't represent the model very well when you have had 210 hp Explorer's for years now.



James, you also might want to recheck your quote. I just reread it and I think you somehow got someone else's comment about drive by wire mixed in with my quote by the looks of it. Whoa there, James..slow down....when quoting!..... Hehehehehehehe. I SO got you back! :D You know I love you buddy.......in a car guy, motor oil, dirty garage floor kind of way...

Here's your d**n quote button again. I know you hate it so I use it whenever possible. Especially on you. LOL! Maybe I have confused what I am trying to say. I am not saying a modded v-6 'Stang only stock. I am stating just getting the throttle to completely go wide open without "big brother" intervening is a huge step forward with the s197 Mustangs. No other tuning necessary-stock vehicle. BTW- Love you too but where the heck did a 9 second turbo-4 come from. I didn't even mention that. Oh well. It is hot, so my brain doesn't compute well.

Rocket - I know exactly what you're meaning here. There are other V6 motors out there that pack a better punch than the 4.0 SOHC. I do agree with that statement 100%. But, I'm not sure if those engines respond to bolt-ons as well as the SOHC 4.0? If they do then that's even more impressive to me. If they don't, then they pretty much maxed it out at the factory. From what I’m seeing, the 4.0 SOHC is being held back at the factory. I guess for reliability sake?

Even if i do toot my own horn, i still feel like I'm SLOW AS A TURDLE. That won't change until I force feed this thing. I know that. If you've ever been in a fast car, 14 - 15 seconds feels pretty slow. But, It's pretty good on our heavy trucks, i guess....

I'm looking for the 13's OR 12's...Yeah, 12's sounds good...

Jakee-12's will be a good # obtained but not easily. I just spent a boatload to be able to hold the power I have. Hopefully low 12's or even high 11's but for now well have to wait and see.

By the way, I went out for a bit last saturday night looking for a test. Still haven't found anything worth talking about. I thought I was gonna see how bad a Mustang GT could burn me but the guy turned off the road...;(

I killed a 97 Mountaineer today, I pulled up beside him doing about 35 and punched it, then he got on his, so I slowed back down to 30 and he got beside me then we both took off and I had over a car length on him at 60mph when I let off. It was nice to see that my mods really do make a difference over what it would do stock.

today I was running late for work. I was going down the road probably at 60mph in a 45. I look behind me and see this decked out new f150 on my ass. I pass the last car in the slow lane then get over. The light ahead of me turns red. Im just like ####in right. Lets give it a shot. He pulls beside me, its the roush stage 3 f150. Im grinning from ear to ear, this guy in the f150 looks at me like hes pissed or something. Light turn green. He gets the jump. 1st gear pulled up right beside him. 2nd gear pulled past him. 3rd gear pulled on him even more, hes a truck lenght behind me. I hit my limited 92mph and so does he. We get stopped by the next traffic light he pulls beside me, Im like isnt that supercharged? hes like "yeah, is yours?" Im like "nope, i got exhaust though" light turned and i took of. Made for a great day at work.

Is was in my ranger 4.0sohc 5spd with 4.10's The 4.10's make all the difference.

We were getting low/mid 14s out of our stage 3 Roush F150s at a track rental day. No wheel spin, just punch it and go. Even the "Midnite" version was in the 14s. I was pretty disappointed by the performance of them. Especially since there were a couple of SRT Rams there running high 12s/low13s. The F150 is just too heavy now and needs a ton of power to move well.

He probably had the 4x4 version that's even heavier and slower.
 






probably looked like it cost a pretty penny. Yeah i looked at the stats, tons of power just no go. It still made me happy as hell because i didnt think id actually beat him.
Heres the funny thing about these f150's they cost $50k, I can get a srt 10 ram with 5k miles for $30k. Id rather have a viper engine and a 6 speed manual(does the f150 offer a manual?)





FYI- it was like 530am well a little after since i was late, but there was only a few cars on the road. None of which where infront of us.
 













And this (along with the MPG increase) is why I want to swap a diesel in my explorer. 2010 should produce lots of good diesels for small/midsized cars to be able to pick one.

Right now the 4.5L Duramax GM has announced for their 1/2 ton trucks looks promising. It's a shame Ford punked out and decided to just put the 6.4L Power Stroke in their 1/2 tons, I was hoping for a newly designed and much more compact diesel for the F150/Expedition.

The 6.4 barely fits into a f250 engine bay(it wont come out without removing the cab), I dont see any way it would fit into my F150.

Oh? So they're redesigning it to fit in the Super Duty and their 1/2 tons?

Going with a tighter angle for the cylinder V or something?

I suppose I should specify that I don't know anything for sure. But that's the "word on the street" in a few of the industry mags I've been reading.

It might just be marketing hype, or what some author/editor thought they heard, and decided to publish in their magazine.

I wouldn't hold my breath. :-)

This is probably not even worth mentioning but...

I killed a 05 or newer (not sure) honda civic. The thing had a big arsh wing on the back and wanted to "chirp" the tires on the first light. So we get to the second light, the light turned green, and I came out of the hole too hard and got sideways. When I looked back (45 to 50 MPH) he was 5 lengths, or better behind me. I probably scared the heck out of the guy cuss he turned off shortly; didn't want any part of me after that.
