I'm interested to see how your stubler goes with the tank, i've been eyeballing one but unsure of the clearance issues with a sport

I'm already moving my rear axle back 1" with the 14B.....keep us posted

How did you know his name???

I will keep you posted on the doubler, but it is at the bottom of the list. Right now I am just trying to get it driveable before EJS!

RIP 8.8

Here is what the inside looks like:

Toast eh? I would say that the pinion slop didn't help, but I am not sure it caused it. My driveshaft seems to be topping out. That couldn't have helped. My passenger brake doesn't work at all really for some reason. That can't help either...

Anybody know what a 4 door shaft length is compressed and extended?

WOW...

I think there might be something wrong with your carrier...hard to tell from the pics though :p:

So where did all the parts I sold you go? :)

Haven't looked on this site in a while...

Ryan,

The tranny is in the navajo. Along with some body parts, pretty much the whole interior (all 4 seats, the cartpet, some trim), the thumb throttle, the driveshaft, the shocks, the alternator, pretty much everything I could scrounge! The motor is in my garage. The rest of the parts I could save off of it are in my crawl space. Thats a brilliant idea I got from Brett! Keep a stock pile of parts that may go bad in your crawl space just in case- cause its cheaper to trip over it for the rest of your life then pay the junk yard $5 when you need it!!:rolleyes:

My motor is still about top puke as far as I can tell. The fluctuating temps cause me to believe it has a toasted head gasket. It still runs ok, so I am going to run it until it strands me! At that point I am planning on putting your motor in and getting it out of my limited garage space- maybe sooner!

I kept the Ex in the garage for about 6 months, then one day I got sick of parking in the driveway at my new house and got a buddy, a cherry picker, a come- along and towed it to scrap! Everytime I break a window or tweak a door I wish I could have just left it in the garage. I need a 3 car I guess!

I guess everytime I park in the garage I don't miss it though!

Speaking of driveshafts...

I am thinking I am going to have to pay the cash now to have my (ryan's old) driveshaft lengthened now, then shortened when I get the doubler in. I wish I could skip the wasted lengthening but it is just too short.

Axle is bolted in. Woo hoo. New brakes are on. Saturday locker and axleshafts go in. Hopefully I will get a day or two to drive it before I head to Moab! I want to get in my wristed arm too. I don't know if that will happen...

I got quite a bit done on the Navajo this weekend. The rear axle is completely in. I filled it up with oil and it took 3 quarts:eek: Everything went pretty smooth. I bought a notched cross pin, but didn't realize that the notch is only to help you get the c clips in the shafts and you have to assemble the whole locker before you put the ring gear on! I ended up just grinding down 2 teeth on the ring gear.

I almost got the Wristed Arm in today, but I broke 2 of the big bolts that bolt the front part around the rear part so I have to go get a couple of those.

I am going tomorrow to get my driveshaft lengthened 3 inches. I guess it will just have to get shortened when I put in the doubler.

I will post pics and flex pics this week.

That is all I am going to get done before EJS.

My goal this week is to trim some fenders to compensate for more wheel travel and get it cleaned up for the Safari.

We are suppossed to get 4 inches of snow tonight... wish my junk was up and running so I could go play in it!!:p:

It travels way noticably better. I like it. The front out works the rear now, though. Reminds me of my brothers XJ. The front travels like crazy, but the rear only travles when it has too. The passenger side hits the bumpstop, but the drivers compresses with in an inch. I think I need to take a quarter of an inch off the passenger side bump and add an inch and quarter to the drivers.

What do you think?

Looks great man! Nicely done. Now we need to see some wheelin' pics.

x2 looking great -- the wristing action is awesome.

Thanks fellas!

We are off for MOAB in the morning. I cut the front fenders, fixed the wrist pin b/c it was rubbing on the tire, bled the brakes, added some tranny fluid, tightened the u bolts, herc'd the door, and washed the whole thing!

The only thing I am worried about it the freaking Tcase. It has had a wierd grinding type of noise on deceleration. I thought it was the rear axle, but it obviously isn't because it has a new rear end and it still does it. When I checked the oil it was very thin and had a ton of particles in it. It looked like glitter paint!

I am tempted to drive the TJ just because of the tcase. I don't think I will because I haven't had a chance to get the Jo on a trail in a while. That 8 hour drive to Moab has me a little concerned! Should be fine, right? What do you guys think? Should I drive it?

Drive it and if your break down near grand junction call mrboyle. Thats what I would do :D

If we don't hear back from you in a couple days I'll start searching I-70!

LOL! Thanks fellas!! You are like the eye on the i or something! Thanks for looking out for a brother!

I am in Junction right now at the Comfort Inn. We spent yesterday and today in Moab. The Navajo has made it with out a hitch. My drivers hub is toastarama though. I tried a few places and couldn't find one so I guess I am running with it chunking again tomorrow! We did hells revenge it was a blast like normal. I will get you all some pics asap. Also got to see the saturday morning jeep caravan, the XRRA comp and a little bit of the expo. It was a blast.

The Jo works really well! It is crazy how much more the front travels and how much difference it makes.

Mike- We are running 21 road in the morning. If you want to come we are meeting at the comfort inn off Horizon and 70 at 9am. My cell is seven one nine 439- 1248

How was 21rd? Last I heard it was still iced over at the top and really wet up to there.

It was very wet. We eventually got to the point where it was total ice and a 4 foot shelf to get up it, so we turned around. It was a good thing we did too because we winched twice and all of the sudden I started having some serious charging issues. I thought my high output alternator (Ryan's ;)) was having issues so we charged my gel cell up the best we could with a jeep and I made a dash for town. I bought a Vato Zone alternator and started puting it in to find the main power wire off the alternator was broken. After attaching that I was able to cruise on home with no issues. We got in at about 10:30 last night. Oh also my hub is completely trash. It doesn't work at all now!

whats so good about wristing just the passengers side? and also check out my thread on d44 brake lines, could u help me out with thoughts/ideas?
