MSRP aint didley
real world cost is where it's at
Jimmy bought his, financed the sales tax and 5 year 100k warranty for a total of 26k, with zero down
Price them now and you'll find <10k mile units for 20k.
price a new mustang GT and you'll be lucky to get one for 22k , in this area.
Now, arguably, they are both fine vehicles and I would feel equally fortunate to drive either one into my garage. The Mach is a way better investment.
If I was looking at an azure Mach with manual trans, or, a black GTO ( only color which looks half way decent on that car) I would pay a bit more for the Mach. No doubt. That is my dream car.
I couldn't agree more! MSRP and actual real world value have 2 drastically different stories! Nearly 2 years ago the bank was going to loan me 20k for my car that I paid 13,200 for! My mountaineer I just bought a few months ago now msrp somewhere around 16k but I've seen similar one's with higher miles go for 10k or less. I paid 16k with a 2400 warranty, taxes, title and plates (although i did overpay still at 13k but it had low miles, already had rims-although I didn't like them, and was the exact color I wanted.)
I'll for sure have to drive the 2 to see which one I'll end up with, unless of course my mind wanders to something else!
Mach 1-dark shadow gray metallic is my favorite...followed by the azure and torch red. Honestly I'd take any for the right price (as long as it's 5spd.)
GTO-black is nice as long as it has the red seats...call me a racer but I love colored seats, it adds so much to the car. I love the midnight blue metallic as long as it has the similar color interior, Spice Red Metallic looks awesome as well. For the right price I'd take any once again as long as it's stick.
Either way they are both great cars for great prices IMO. The gto would edge out the mach1 mpg wise and comfort of the interior as well as the nicer interior (not saying the stang is slouching I've loved them forever.) I also hear the back seat is larger in the gto.
The stang edges out the mach because of the shaker, pure gorgeous sound the dohc makes, I'm a ford guy, the looks are just more "look at me" vs the gto. The exterior of the gto isn't anything that really says much of anything it just look like a nice car you can make look like your own.
In the end I imagine that the cost of insurance would be similar but you'd think the gto would be more because of the power factor. But for whatever reason the mustang always tends to be quite high. In a few years I won't have to worry about that but for now I do. This won't happen though til I get a real job so until that time it's just a dream!
