Or why does anyone for that matter?
I plan on cutting the roof cauz I'm picky :(
Actually cauz its pretty heavy (roll over issues). A flat piece of fiberglass or something else would probably be much lighter.

Well, I'm off to Korea on Monday, so updates to the steering portion are coming end of April.

I got some High Steer arms along with the Axle when I bought it. Got the build it yourself kit from Ballistic Fabrication (These guys' service ROCKS!) and I'm using a gear from a 1978 F-250.

I've got the drag link built but not welded and I have to mount the gear before I can build the gear link.

I'm modifying an upper steering shaft from a Jeep Cherokee, since the bottom joint fits on the gear perfectly, All I have to do is shorten it.

On the links, I used 3/4 Joints stepped down to 5/8 for the Bolts, should hold up well.

After steering and brakes, Ill be able to drive this sucker!

Thanks all

OK I got my tires and finally had to move it out of the garage.

Ill try to get pictures on here tonight after I put them on the truck 35X14X16.5 Swamper SSRs.

I also got the steering halfway done, I just got to design and build the bracket for the gearbox.

After that all I need is to hook up the brakes and itll be 2WDriveable.

Its getting there. WooHoo!

Tire PICS

As promised, If a bit late...

They are 35X14X16.5 Super Swamper SSR Radials on Mickey Thompson 12" Aluminum rims.

Ive had them on the truck but wasnt able to get pics since it started raining and hasnt quit for 2 weeks while I've been home.

I CANT WAIT!!!!!

OK the steering is coming together.

Here are a few pics of the plate for the gearbox tack-welded in place where it'll be in the end.

theres one of the winch plate as it'll be, the radiator is going to the inside of the cage in the back(when the cage is done)

Had to say goodbye tot he A/C, since the compressor is in the way, but since Im chopping the back and prolly will run doorless, that is a moot point really.

I apologize for the pics, they are from my blackberry, they were huge and ended up being crappy after I had to size them down.

tomorrow Ill get a chance to roll out of the garage and get most everything welded up and the tires on, then Ill get some good pics.

It's not as big as it looks...lol

UPDATE... PICTURES! Its starting to come together...

OK...

I know it's been awhile since I made ma decent post in this thread...Sorry for that, Hope this makes up for it....

Im finally making some noticiable progress here. I got the steering done, now all I need to do it weld up the link and hook it all together, and finish up the front brakes. They work but the routing of the lines is not done yet.

The plate for the steering will be strenghened with a few gussets here and there as well as closing up all the gaps to make sure it doesnt break the frame. The original spring mount plate needs to be finished, and the rear spring mounts on the front need to be finished up. I also need to position and weld the winch mount plate, and fab up the front shackles. ITS TIME TO START DRAWING UP THE FRONT BUMPER!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!

Just a days welding as long as the wleder holds up. It should.

enjoy, comments are welcome. Im going to try to update my website tonight as well so you can see it all there in bigger pics if you want, give me time on that.

Like I said , it looks bigger than it actually is...lol

Daniel

In all seriousness that is a great looking truck! Can't wait to see the finished product. Is it going to be street legal in Alabama?

well the only regs we have here is a certain amount of inches to the headlights...36 comes to mind, Ill check, but if not I got a good trailer to get it to the trails.

I will upgrade to 37 or 39" tires when those wear out.

Thanks!

real.ized i never put mine in here..
32's, tt and shackles.. and now a snorkel...

What kit did you use for your snorkel?

heres the thread...

Sutff Used:
2.5 schedule 40 pvc, some rv sewage flex piping-3", Got the head from ebay.. search and look for wagga tractor, it is a donaldson air ram. the 3" version.

Cost me about $70 total and everything except the air ram can be found at Home depot, lowes, or local hardware or walmart (for RV stuff)

Hardest part was trying to make the fender look decent..
