Some may of heard about our mishap yesterday morning. Thankfully, all eight of us survived with minor injuries. Just proves that SEATBELTS really do save lives.

Holy freakin' cow!! That's nutz! Glad you made it out ok. I'll look for the other thread, as this is the first I've heard of this.

It was all over the local news here in Socal, and you can still find it on the internet.
Btw, we went over on Hwy 18 near the Big Bear dam.

Dang!!!! Glad you all made it out ok...that musta been one wild ride...

Made the front page in my neck of the woods

Holy crap! Glad you're still in one piece dude, that's some scary stuff.

wow... definitely someone was looking out for you guys that day..

OK, so what's the real story??

-Joe

Wow. We've been watching that on the news and never imagined you were one of those lucky guys. I can't disagree about seatbelts, but it's hard not to imagine there was a bit more than just seatbelts keeping you safe :).

- Damn glad you're OK.
- Thanks for risking your butt (in ways we never expected) to protect the forest

Were you guys disconnected from the frame the whole way down?

Yes, after the first impact about 70' down the rear box separated just like it was designed to. After that we kept rolling till a couple of very nice trees caught us. Gonna have a hard time cutting one down when I get back to work!

As far as the real story, all I can say was that it was an accident and everyone is very thankful to just be alive.

Btw, even though I wasn't the one driving would this qualify me as at least a honorary member of the rollover posse?:p:

wow thats crazy glad you made it out alright.

I read about that in the paper, but had no idea there was a member in the rig! Glad you all made it out okay. So, when was the first moment you actually thought you might live through that?

It's kinda funny, but since I didn't see my life flash before my eyes it never even occured to me that I could of died untill a few hours later.

That's a good question: Are passengers eligible for rollover posse membership, or only drivers? If so, you've got my vote!

edit: Thinking about it, once the rollover begins, aren't all the occupants 'just along for the ride' and, therefore, all passengers at that point? If so, shouldn't all occupants of a rolled vehicle be eligible for admittance to the rollover posse?

I defer to those that have actually rolled over... I hope every day to never be eligible for membership!!

Yeah, I have had those moments......a few hours after something really wild happens and you realize you lived through something that should have killed you. You have a killer story to tell when you are old and gray.
In that first picture, what kind of truck is that behind your rig's cab? Thats what they used to do with vehicle's that rolled down a mountain, just leave them there.

A 4700 series International, the box rides on the frame behind it and is secured with six bolts.

Pic of remains at Del Rosa.

Guess they should have used the bed bolts that hold up an F-150... like in that commercial for the F-series trucks where the narrator *supposedly* walks under the truck while it's hanging from one bolt...
