Its just out of convenience - and trying to keep the engine's profile as low as possible so the driver can see more of whatever is in front of the vehicle. But heat (from the headers) shouldnt be an issue, thermal barriers will be used to isolate the intake from the exhaust. And really, three out of four sides of the engines has an exhaust - the driver's side's header runs over the transmission. Also, I'm trying to stay away from putting anything over the serp. belt area so its easier to work on the engine accessories (hyd. pump, alternator, etc..).Curious why you picked the exhaust side to run the intake-unless a turbo is in the plans.
