ok i sent you a PM with it and everything.

Houston sucks for off roading unless you want to run the beach. If there is a good off-road area in Austin, then I am just as happy going there.

Point is it doesn't make a difference where this is to me. I can get to any of those places within 6 hours.

As for dates, I am a part timer, so work changes per week. I'll let the guys between a rock and a hard place set those.

Any dates being thrown around yet? I would like to make it out there... I haven't been on a decent road trip since the NJ trip 3 years ago:eek:

The response for this meet is pretty good, so I am throwing some dates out there,
Starting at 2 weeks after the poll closes,
OCT 2nd and 3rd

Oct 9th and 10th

Oct 16th and 17th

Oct 23rd and 24th

Not going for the last weekend in Oct due to being Halloween for those with little ones and fall SMORR is set for that weekend. I think Nov might not be good due to the holiday season starting that month, but open for suggestions.

Starting another poll for the dates of the meet. (Please no one jack with the poll) Will close this poll on the same day as the meet poll. Also, please only vote for the dates if you are trying to attend the meet. Having members from other states is a great plus!! We are a team!! I am going to wait 48 hours to start the date poll just in case I get other suggestions for a date for the meet.
LET'S ROLL

Boy that makes it tough... There is a big Truck Haven run on the 23rd 24th. It's doubtful that I could do both.

These are just first suggestion dates for the run, I orginally had the poll set to close on 12 Sept to allow Sept weekends, but now it is set to close on 21 Sept. November weekends are not out of the question also.
Can the poll be reset to close on the orginal date so more dates are opened?

Oct 9th and 10th is the only weekend that would work for me. I work every other weekend. And I'm trying to schedule vacation to be at the Big Truckhaven meet on Oct 23rd and 24th.

Fixed.

^^^^Thanks^^^

It looks as the idea for the poll for the dates is not a good one. Gonna put some more dates up, Oct does not seem to be a good month, other meets and prior engagements for work.

18-19 Sept

25-26 Sept

9-10 Oct

6-7 Nov

13-14 Nov

OK, The idea of a meeting is taking off much better than I had expected, now to isolate the date down, then go from there. Even tho Austin has a major lead I don't want to count the chickens before they hatch.
The 18-19 Sept might be too soon after the poll ends for making reservations etc, but we will see how it plays out. (If the Austin area keeps pulling futher out in the lead, it might just be best to call the area prior to the poll ending)
Please bear with me on this meet, I'm a virgin on setting up a meet. Will like to do a varation on the door prizes like was done at SMORR, but since it is likely we will not be in an area together for night, it will have to be modified.
Any ideas to make this a Great meet is welcomed and encouraged!!!!

Late September/October is going to be bad, I have to be in Vegas mid to late September, then to Terlingua, Texas, and then Grandbury, Texas.

Oh, and Halloween, if we decide to throw another party again?

6-7 Nov folks? That gives the Truckhaven meet and SMORR meet people a little recovery time. Plus, leaves halloween open for those with little ones. We could even have a halloween theme for the meet, it's not like we are all wrapped too tight anyhow. (I have to warn everyone that I dress as the scariest thing I know for halloween, myself!!)
The weather should be pretty nice, (can't control the rain tho)

Halloween Smorr meet won't be anything big Mike. I wouldn't let it dictate your decision making in any way, shape, or form. This is just a smaller wheeling trip, that mostly locals go to anyways.

Curious... how long of a drive is it from Bastrop to Houston? If I get out there it would be nice to visit my half sister..

Just did a quick look on the TXDOT travel map, and it looks like around 135 miles to the outer loop of Houston.

Rick, from my house to Clear Lake (Johnson Space Center) is 155 miles, take about 2 hours to get there, pending on how fast you drive, you would take HWY71 out of Bastrop to I-10 and go east for the mid and southern part of Houston, if she lives north you would take HWY290 into Houston, there again hour and a half to two hours pending on destination.

Speeds along these routes are posted 70mph, but most run 80+ mph, TXDPS routinely patrol them, but most run in fairly large groups, and they usally nail the person in front of the pack.
