Water part II....
Rains have settled in at a constant. I figured I better go take a look inside the rig. 2 problems have unfolded here and I managed to take care on one of them.
It seems the seal on the sunroof is not perfect, and needs addressed to stop the leak in the first place. Will work on that later.
So since the leak lets water under the sunroof into the cavity underneath, the drain tube is supposed to let that water flow under the rig and cause no harm. Well, that would be great, if it worked like it was supposed to.
LOTS of water was in the rig. Seat, headliner, & carpet was soaked on the Drivers side. So I removed the trim and the sun visor and carefully pulled it back a bit to get a good look inside. Found the drain tube attached to the sunroof. When I touched it, it fell off. Aha! So, that's where the water was getting in!
There is a plastic insert on both sides of a short fat tube that acts as a tube size adapter. Well, it had fallen apart inside. Crumbled to the touch, and was blocking the water flow. The drain tube in the A-pillar is a dif size then the nipple on the sunroof, so they made it fit with the inserts and a fat short hose.
This is the drain tube & the drain nipple separated from each other.
After using a coat hanger to clean out the drain nipple and channel, I came up with this fix with something I had in the shop. This is about as redneck as it gets, but works like a charm.
Enter the cheap fluid hose that attaches to fluid bottles.
The black tip is what I was after. Two different size ends that fit perfectly in the two different size tubes.
Cut off the cap part of it, and then stuck one end in the short fat stock tube.
Then the other end in the drain tube that goes into the A-pillar.
Then installed that to the drain nipple on the sunroof.
This will allow the water to now flow and drain under the rig in the A-pillar. I searched inside the B-pillar, and found no drain tube, nor did I find one attached to the back of the sunroof. Hopefully this works for now until I figure out a way to seal the leak.
