Well, at this time I have the upper intake on, the coilpack bracket attached, the thermostat replaced, front hoses hooked up-
I have also addressed the firewall wire through-installed a good grommet and used some black conduit-that's all looking better now.
I also got my egr tube repaired with a hydrogen torch weld--
Right now I'm taking a break and making a few gaskets--
The powder would not stick-but the spacer took the heat
I knew it wouldn't transfer electrostatically, so I heated it and sprayed -the powder flowed fine, then just bubbled up, or"lifted"
So I sandblasted it clean-it looks dark grey and is staying that way.
I broke a bolt in the throttle body elbow while putting the throttle body on-
I think some powder made its way in there-
anyway-it has to come off to be drilled out or something-ideas?
It is an aluminum part with a stuck steel bolt-
the hole goes all the way through-I could get a drill bit on it and possibly try to spin it out from the direction it was going in?
Remember last week when I spent 2 hours getting the engine ready to come out, then fought the 4 exhaust bolts for about 7 hours....eventually we pryed the engnie out of there (bending the y pipe a bit to clear the head studs) then the next day I spent another 2 hours cutting the 4 bolts.....
9 hours, 4 bolts...
the throttle body is threaded or no? The bolt goes through the TB and into the intake?...can you just punch it out?
Well ok-I got the Mounty pushed back into the driveway-
Good thing I have a drill press. I was able to clamp this in sevurely and drill out the bolt.
I then tapped the holes, and bolted it back on. I can get the EGR tube on and off in nothing flat these days.
Back to the show--
The weld on thr egr tube was not good-it broke away as I tightened it down--
I guess I should be glad it happened now, and not when the engine was running--
soooo-hmmm what to do?
I have another egr tube that Techieman33 gave me-is there someone here who can weld thin walled stuff? It might need to be injected with argon from the inside--as it is stainless steel.
Do you have Argon, you can inject it into the tube like water with a MIG welder.
Question, who knew that the AWD transfer cases changed mid year of 1997? I pulled the 97 BW4404 off of my 97 trans, and it has no speed sensor. It can be used in a 98-01 then I guess?
