I have an idea, buy some el cheapo 8 lug rims and slip on some retread hummer tires on em, either the 36 bias ply or the 37" radial. The bias ply is 375 shipped new(are not retreads) and the radial is the same price but retreads. Thats my route of action.

i'm thinking about the military 37, but i heard they are really stiff even when aired down. i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go pick up 5 rims from that guy by me and send them off to usa6x6 to be recentered, or to precision cryogenics(or something like that) if i can find the guy on pirate. i also need the centers i think.

nooooooooooo usa6x6 nooooooooooooo. very bad rep, and you prolly ont get your wheels till next year lol. Look at the tech page on puirate4x4, bella vista did a good right up on a company that did recentered hummer rims.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

and i put some primer on my rear dana 60 hubs
    [IMG]

i should be sandblasting the rims on monday before class.

I was thinking i would buy 1 center and try and recenter the h1 wheel myself, and if i am succesful, i will buy 4 more and do the rest. if i am not happy, then i will use the one i made as a spare and send the other 4 out to be done professionally.

Okay Aric, here's what I've got for you. Unless Will county PDs dont care, you're gonna get harassed as shit for running FW on the road here. I ran my 91 with 6in of lift and 3in of body on 33s and 35s and I was stopped Many times. When I get home I can dig up lift laws, but my current bronco on 33s and 3.5 in of total lift are beyond the IL laws. Also about the mudflaps. In IL it's stated that the bumper must be wider than the wheel track. Furthermore, USA 6x6 is not where to go. I suck up the drive and head to danville and use a shop callled www.bigwheeloffroad.com and if you dont want to go there attitude performance is closer but they're pricy. Big wheel has made my cage and done alot of other work on my bronco. Eric there is solid and does great work. Only down fall is the drive. I'd say runnin Humvee rims on the road around here is iffy... If the cops are busy in your town like they are my county, we wouldn't care. However, I'm willing to bet, it'd take alot of fighting to get them to pass. Not to rain on the parade, but IL is not big truck friendly. I've got friends that had 3/4 tons which have higher lift laws still get heavily hassled. Full widths on 37s is gonna attract ALOT of attention and alot of problems.
However, since I'm in the area, if I can give you any help, give me a shout...

Edit--Do not run a spool up front. Thats just a disaster waiting to happen. I ran lunch boxes in my 8.8 and d35 with good results, and it works well in my HP44. I've got a spooled 9in and let me tell you, when I move the bronco from the back yard to the garage, it gets torn up. It also chirps every waking moment when turning the bronco on the road... But that's how I bought the axles...

sn0border88: those were actually the ones i was looking at. pretty good price, i just hope shipping isn't killer.

RFR2212: I appreciate your concern, i actually plan on doing something for a drop down bumpers because there is that 24 or 27" bumper law, i think the frame has to be within 24" of the ground also. i have never heard the bumper width law before, but i'll believe you. cops in my area are more concerned with busting imports for loud exhaust. i got harrassed more when my truck was stock than i do now with it lifted. haven't had a front plate in 2 years, and the tires already stick out past the fenders and bumper with the 33's. what county are you in so i know where to stay away? haha. i guess we'll just see what happens.

as for the spool, I want it because it is cheap. If i am going to have a nonselectable locker, it might as well be a full time locker i dont have to worry about. it will bein the front so i can unlock the hubs while on pavement. and hydro assist is in the list of things to do so i can steer offroad.

eidt: as for the hummers, they are "D.O.T approved". in fact, i would be surprised if most cops even knew that the bolts were functional and not just for esthetics like streetlocks.

Yup, hummer wheels have a DOT stamp on em. SO if JD decides to pull you over, get out and show him the DOT sticker. Here in Ohio they could give a rats ass but i'll be building ine to conform.
