Ilikemice's 1999 "Meerkat" registry

Hi all. I figured I'd make a registry for my new ride! It was 180 miles away and managed to take 9 hours for the entire trip, including several KFC stops along the way.

I picked up a plush meerkat to put on the dash at a service station, and since the car is kind of meerkat coloured the name stuck.

I'll be needing these...

Just getting onto the M25 going around London...

STILL on the M25, but now it's gone dark. This is crossing the Thames...

My friend's car was doing consistently good MPG throughout the journey...

Pics of the car itself will come tomorrow... when it's less dark outside.

I always enjoy seeing RH drive Explorers.

Prepare to be disappointed! :D I always liked the fender flare-less US versions with column shift! This is a 1999 XLT

But don't worry. I'll be taking it to where I keep my RHD one to get plenty of pics of them both together :D

Oh and the EF plate frames won't go on without obscuring the numbers :(

Your steering wheel is on the wrong side,,

nice ride,,

Couple more pics:

To do:

- Fix overhead console
- Give the car a thorough vacuum
- 2" lift shackles
- Swap tyres over from the green Explorer (Current tyres on 'Kat are very noisy)

nice x how u get the x with the steering wheel on the driver side instead of the passenger side

Sweet looking X mate.

I fixed the overhead console display tonight.

It needed some new solder on the 510 resistors...

Hooray!

Inspired by JoeDirt's Wedgie registry, I ripped the rear seats out and did a bit of cleaning.

Yuck!

There was a lot of candy that had melted into the carpet, and what looked like thick black coffee all over the carpet under the driver's seat and all over the rear cup holders. The cup holder was taken out and given a bath!

After:

The front seats/carpet looked good, so it only needed a quick vacuum.

Wicked job mate. Look's brand spankin'

Truck looks good especially after cleanup.

Don't stop now you still have the front to do yet. :p:

(when ya wanna come over and do mine?)

Sparkly clean cupholders!

Even the coin holder was taken to bits and cleaned.

Did the lift shackles too. It evens the car out nicely. It was sagging a little too much at the back

How's it feel driving a lefty? Had any close calls yet?

I had a close call in the lefty Blazer I used to drive due to visibility issues and was worried that I'd have a similar problem when driving the Ex but it has excellent visibility all round, unlike the Blazer. It was a little hairy driving it for the first time at night with pitch black roads though.

It's no problem to drive until you have to go round a van parked on the road, then it's game over.
