Snowball 94 Limited

Here's a few pics from yesterday. We got about 6in of snow. The plows are only doing main roads and not doing a good job on them and to add to it the county is all out of salt for the roads.

You can barely make out the road.

My baby and the Ranger with frozen brakes. The drive had about 2in on it.

All and all the truck performed great. Only reason I got out in the snow was so my mom wouldn't have to drive in it in her mini van. Had a little issue coming home though stopped to put in 4Low and got stuck on a sheet of ice but with a little gunnin of the engine I got her goin. But couldn't make it up the drive I'm in need of some new tires bad. Parked in the neighbors flat drive and she drove right out this morn to get mom to work. Not completely sure the hubs a working though as when I was in 4low only the back tires would spin on the ice the front just did nothing.

Tires are the big key for driving in snow or ice. I've got great snow tires on extra wheels, they get me anywhere I need to go. But for work the POS white truck only has recap tires on it, with pitiful aluminum snow chains on the back. I slid all over the place today, but did deliver about 99% of my mail. Recap tires are dangerous on slick roads.

The county had scraped about 1/3 of the roads I went on, but only one side or down the middle. If they went back over them later in the afternoon, they should be better tomorrow. We'll see.

They plowed the road in front of my house right after dark but I don't think it's gonna help much as they're callin for more snow.

New tires are my next big purchase I plan to use my tax money for at least 2 new ones if I can find a job in Jefferson city for during school...If I ever get out there this snow is messin up the schedule. I'm hoping the roads are clear enough to make it Carson Newman in the morning.

The roads are not bad today in most places, but there are still places with fully white roads. Those are like ice so stay away from the side roads with a lot of shade.

Check out the TireRack.com when you get ready to hunt tires.

Ya they weren't terrible when I left for CN this morning hoping it'll all be gone by the time I get back Friday.

That's where I've been looking and I'm thinking the General Grabber AT2. Not a bad price gonna check locally first to see if they can get a better deal though.

Read entire thread :D Good stuff... I'm also in TN, near Memphis though. Looks good!

Thanks. If it ever gets warm here again I have several more Mods planned.

Just a little update not much been happening on he girl except driving to school and back and then drivin me and my girlfriend around.

Hope you had a happy birthday!! :D

Happy birthday! New tires makes it feel like you got a whole new ride :D

Things have been kinda crazy around here so I never got around to posting..

Got my new tires finally after 2 trips to PepBoys. They are great a lot quieter and ride smoother than the others. Haven't had a chance to test them off road yet between being sick and midterms and a few dates with my girl. No picture yet either as it was pouring when I got them and I keep forgetting. Gotta get one soon though or Grandma's gonna be ticked as she paid half and wants to see them.

I also had a little spare time a couple weeks ago so I pulled my CB antenna mount and repainted it cause it was gettin really rust and I didn't do a good job the first time. 2 layers of primer, 3 layers of Orange outdoor paint all cover with 3 layers of clear should keep it from rusting for a good while.

Headin to TX Friday with my girlfriend to spend the week with her family so the old girl gets a week off unless mom decides to drive her.

Ok so the weather was awesome today. I'm home early to get ready for spring break so I decided to take advantage of it and take some pics of the truck and the new tires. I flexed it a tiny bit on a mound in the yard.

Here they are...

Also wanted to see if they would climb up a couple 4x4's. I had 2 stacked and one in front to help get up. They climbed it with no problem. I couldn't do that with my old tires..

I am very happy with these tires. They also have a 50,000mile warranty and the price was great buy 3 at $108 and get the fourth free. Also got 10% off since we scheduled an appointment and they sold the tires the day before.

Little update...
Not much happening lately. Changed the oil last weekend put in Mobil 5000 5w-30 and a new Motorcraft filter. Went alot quicker this time than my first time especially since I bought the right filter wrench and didn't have to fight the drain plug since it wasn't put on with an impact.

Also finally got around to installing the window motor I picked up from a forum vendor many months ago. So great to have 4 windows that go down since I have no A/C yet. I also installed the rear wind deflectors I picked up from Joe Dirt.

Also since it was such a nice day I tried to wire in a auto down window module on the front to make it auto up. It didn't work so next time I'm gonna break out the test light and figure out the right wires. I'll do a write up with pics if I get it figured out.

What are the wires for the module supposed to go to? Refresh my memory.

I know that two go to the one motor wire you are truing to affect. That pair is simple, so you will cut the other wire to the motor which stock went straight to the master switch. The other motor wire goes to the OEM auto down module, and then to the switch. So you actually have the stock wiring that you can copy, but just cutting into the other motor wire.

The others are power, ground, and which, that's the one I'm not sure about?

Below is identical to your stock LF door wiring, as this is the old LF wiring from my 93 Limited.

I like the tires- they look like a pretty aggressive tread without being obnoxious. :D

Basically you cut the wire for up on the motor one wire to motor side other wire to switch side. Then you have ground, power, and the other wire that goes to down switch to cut the power and stop it.

Soon as I get a chance I'm gonna try this again pretty sure I had it all right but I cut the wrong motor wire. We'll see though.

Thanks. Haven't had a real chance to try them out yet but they sure are quieter than the old and a lot better in the rain.
