mm.. to give you an idea. The guy I purchased my s/c setup from went v8 opposed to trying to convert and tune. Best bet if I am thinking about it correctly,

95 later years where OBDII was produced or better OHV motor
- PCM or ECU (w/e you want to call it)
- engine harness
- dash harness
- maybe the body harness (not likely)

The only person I know on this board who has done something similar is again Spdrcr's 8 project. I know he used just about everything from donor truck, including a 2nd gen dash in a 1st gen. I also know he added the keypad from a 2nd gen.

Man that's what i was thinking.if it was just the engine and sensors i would be all in.I've read his thread and man that's alot of work.think ill just have to get the sct 4bank and talk to my tuner and see if he has the equipment to properly tune it or get it to a safe reliable tune.its not a race truck so don't need every hp out of it possible.

I think your right JD. I remember the older days with my 455ci Trans Am. There was no computer to tweak at all. Timing was simply cam, and distributor. Great power was made out of these monster motors.
Not terribly efficient, but gobs of power just the same. I'm sure yours can be made to safely make lots and lots of power if those old motors could do it with no real control at all.

p.s. the 72mm C&L Maf, and a clear tube to match it with 19lb injectors are on their way to me. SCT is also in transit. Plug the new maf in, and get a tune. I'm hoping its a smooth process.

Don't mean to be Debbie downer but that clear tube won't work.its for a mustang 19lbs.you have to send your electronics and computer code to c&l and they will make you a tube.mustangs came with larger maf to start with so there computer code and tune is set for that as a start then they mod the a tube for the larger maf based of the settings and flow of a stock maf.may be close but not the same.yes it can get out of control!!

Check the code on your maf electronics.if its the same code as mine they might be able to cut you a deal when i send mine in.just have them use your ecm code,my electronics and make you a 19lbs tube for a 73mm at the same time they are doing mine.o something else that guy also didn't post about that kit,it can't be used on a motor that has ac so it def wouldn't have fit your truck

Dono you are in a much easier boat to float since you are ODB-II. What exactly is your project and what are your goals for it? By the way, you don't need to go through the BS of matching the MAFS with the injectors and all that crap. That is what the custom ECU tune is for. Having a MAFS matched for the injectors is old school. The reason why the OBD-I guys are doing that is because sometimes they just don't have an easier local tuning option so they have to make do with the older and much less accurate way of dealing with things. You on the other hand can buy whichever MAFS that provides you with enough airflow metering range, the size of injectors that fit your needs and then have the tune itself take care of ensuring everything is properly recalibrated together.

That's what i said originally in one of these post.but if he wasn't getting a tune then he would still have to get the maf tuned right?otherwise what does he do just remove the sample tube,run stock electronics and have it written into the main computer tune?

My goal is just to get what I have working properly. With new cam, intake, slightly higher compression, a tune should be able to maximize this. The motor should be flowing a lot more air than in stock form. I hear that even a tune is helpful when going to a aftermarket intake.

so everything looks really good.guy put alot of work into it.the only thing i dont like is the intake manifold where the tb mounts.its a master piece but its a little small.these things from what i have read like large intake manifolds and can really affect boost.i wonder if the manifold from a tbird fits on the 3800?idk how i would even go about finding out,could be as simple as searching for that gasket and see if they all use the same.they make aftermarket manifold for the tbird i think.any rate on to the pics

According to your modlist I don't see a huge need for a considerable additional amount of fuel or airflow metering ability. If I were you I would stay with stock maf and stock injectors for now and have a good tuner tune it. If you Max the stock injectors out then jump up to some old cobra 24's if you don't plan on going forced induction. Planning on going fi then go with bigger. If stock maf maxxes out then buy a used lightning or cobra maf for $50 and use that. Those support more horsepower than any 4.0 ohv I have ever seen make and are cheap. Whatever you do, make sure to get a good custom tune afterward.

So just a little update.i called and talked to the guy at 3800performance and he is going to build me a custom charger.he is filling a couple of the holes i won't use and porting and polishing the whole unit afte.he is also milling down the snout to fit smaller pullies.there is some other stuff getting done to it but that im keeping a secret till at least i get it back and only if you can tell by the pic will you knowi helped out my buddy Chris(boomin ) with picking up an explorer after a 10hr straight trip so i now have a sohc oil pan and all parts for it.figured it may help a little and why not it was free.so next sat i will be trying to put in the fuel pump and sohc oil pan.im going to try and do it with out removing the engine,i have a 3" body lift and 5.5 so i should have room to crank the motor up pretty high to get it off.do i have to use the sohc pump and pick up or can i use ohv pump and pick up?or can i use sohc pick up on my ohv pump?i have a high flow pump so i don't wanna get ride of it?!!!!
