Big Bear Run June 24th - 26th

Count me in for the first weekend in June as well as the latter dates posted

Jobunn, Froader drove past Cleghorn road on the way to the Calico run 2 weekends ago and he saw that the gate was open so I assumed the area was open for offroading...anyway to clarify that? Anyways, i'm game for anything, I'm not sure if i've been on that trail you mentioned but let's throw that into the mix too.

If it turns out that it is open we should probably save that for say a Sat. afternoon run...Brian has his camper to set up so i'm thinking we can find a trail that ends up in that area. Cleghorn rd./trail is good for maybe 3-4 hrs. of wheelin if that.

These are just my suggestions so it won't break my heart if we don't run Cleghorn...I thought a little variety might be good :D

If he didnt I was going to :p

I will try to make this run. I was planning on doing the solid axle swap around mid to end of june so depending on what stage I am at with that will determine if I bing the ranger or not or if I am a passanger.

Dave, Pm me your number so we can set something up about getting those tires.

Dave, I can't make this trip, so you won't have to worry about my camper.

but but but but.................................what about the keg?!?!

sheeeeit man...do I really have to work on the truck this weekend :frustrate

I was gonna go to the Beard shootout M.O.R.E. race on saturday in lucerne...maybe the rig won't let me. what I am gonna need, partswise, is those two little straps that hold the front driveshaft onto the pinion yoke thingy. My stock ones are lying around somewhere in Truckhaven  Anybody know where I could get some of these guys? They have that kinda crap at pep boys, or would I just be better off getting raped at a junkyard :fire:

Haha... I'm just giving you a hard time. I'm not sure if I would go on my 21st B-day either.

I would imagine that you could get them from Pep Boys. Or there is All Ford off the 55 and 4th I think. Check All Ford. They have everything that...........is............Ford............ ;)

Junkyard...and then OPPS! those little pieces must have fallen into my pocket and I forgot to pay for them! O'well! :D

gotcha stico ;) I actually did that in a VW junkyard in Irwindale back when I had my 69' bus...its kind of a long...and a bit gross story tho LOL...you probly wouldn't wanna know about it hahaha

i will try to dig up some of those straps this weekend and see what happens. I just hate seeing the rig on jackstands for more than a day :( :( ...i figure i could get it out and back in in a day if I had the new shaft shorn, shaven, and u-jointed out and ready to slide into da hole :smoke:

I think you can use the u-bolt style bolts instead of the straps...they are mo' betta and i've seen them at pep boys.

Thats what I would do. . .You would have to drill out the yoke to accept them though.

They are better, in that if you break 'em you just pop in another rather than having to figure out how to get a broken bolt out of the yoke. All my yokes are U-bolt style now, and I carry spares.

wow that sounds like a real good idea! Anybody got a pic of these so I know what to look for?? Yah I've got a broken bolt or four in my yoke right now...not lookin forward to gettin em out, but this would make it simple ;)

I'll try and snap a pic for ya this weekend but picture a u- bolt for your leaf springs only the U part is flat where it wraps around the U-joint. At Pep Boys
there's an aisle that has all kinds of misc. parts like window crank handles and whatever, look for the bolts there. ;)

Yah man I saw one at Vatozone yesterday!! I was gonna go for it, but the guy only had one in stock  I will spring for this after I get that shaft in there. my Jeeper buddy was saying I should just get a whole new yoke like from Currie or somewhere. I guess he called it a strapless yoke. I don't really see a point in droppin the extra dough so I think I'll just drill out mine(since I have to anyways) and toss in some of these u-bolt thingys. I have the shaft clearanced and the joint installed, just need to tack the caps now, then the ugly part...installing the damn thing

I have posted in these threads before, but was never able to come. As i said in the past i am looking for someplace i can go and have fun in my Stock Explorer, where 4x4 isnt totally necessary, but is Deffinatally helpful. So if this trip has some places like that I'm down, but otherwise i think I'll have to pass.

New hubs and trac bar are in. I'm ready to go.

Christobal65 - There are a few trails out there that are good for a stock X. I'm not sure any of us will be doing them since the guys going are pretty modified. I'm not for sure either though. Maybe you can go and catch a ride with someone one the trails...? :shrugs:

yeah i know most of you guys are pretty modded...I dunno maybe we will see how things fall together, and If something doesnt come up i might come up for a day or so.

I'm going to be up there the first weekend in June too. My buddy's parents have a cabin and a few friends are going to just hang out. I could go for a day run though.

Dave, maybe you want to meet up?

jobunn, that sound good to me too.

Hey Froader check with the Ranger for the trail closures when you are up there too. I friend of mine was up there over the holiday and said Holcomb creek and about 90% of the other trails were "closed" due mostly to mud slides (Sound fun!!), but that it was day to day if they will be open. John Bull was open though.
