I can't make it this weekend but I had planned for the weekend of 29th/30th to head on up there. My buddy Tim sounded interested in going so I'm gonna find out if he's in for sure.
For those who can make it for the date that I have planned here's the info:
Where:
Mcdonalds parking lot @ the I-15/hwy138 split...I believe it's one exit past the Cleghorn rd. exit...can't miss it, there's also a Chevron next the McD's.
When:
Saturday, July 29th @ 8:30am

I can't make this weekend, but hope to be there next weekend...
There are some people going up there this weekend to fix up John Bull in hopes keeping the trail open.
If anyone from the board can go, please contact the Waywegos club to help them keep it open...
The following is from the Rubicon Owners mailing list...:
"At the meeting last evening we discussed the condition of some of the
trails. It seems the John Bull trail has had a spate of rollovers.6
this season. The Forest Service has determined that repairs MUST BE
DONE ASAP.The club who Adopted the John Bull is the Waywegos, not a
large club, they could use our assistance.A work party has been
scheduled for THIS SAT 22July.The day of OUR run.If John bull is not
repaired ASAP it will be CLOSED temporarily.I do NOT want this to
happen for ONE MINUTE.The work party will meet at the Big Bear Ranger
Station on the North side of the lake at 0830 Sat 22July.
I know this is SHORT NOTICE,but I want your input as to whether we
should cancel Sats run in favor of helping out.We were going to do
John bull Sun anyway.PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR INPUT ASAP.
If you know me well. You realize I want to be out there helping save
this trail Sat.

RangerX said:Dave, what's the plan beyond the meeting point?
For Sat. I pretty much wanted to stick with the plan that was discussed earlier in the thread which was to run Cleghorn, find some shade somewhere, do lunch and then head over to Dishpan springs if time permits.
If we find out that we can't run John Bull we could find a place to camp in the area of the Holcolmb creek trail and run that Sunday.
Sound like a plan? Comments, suggestions welcomed.
My buddy Tim is in, you might remember him Bill...he has a stock TJ.

Cleghorn trail ends on the west side of Silverwood Lake. From there, we can drive just a couple miles to the north side and catch 2N17X, which is a real fun trail that works its way over to the north side of Lake Arrowhead. We catch Dishpan Springs trail a couple miles over on the east side of the lake and work our way over to the Fawnskin area. From there, John Bull if open, or White Mtn and/or Gold Mtn are backup options. Camping would be in whatever area we are in at dinnertime-ish. There's several primitive campgrounds, or we could open camp, but probably not have a fire.
Whaddya think? I've run this same basic route in one weekend before, from east to west. I've always wanted to do it the opposite way.

I'll probably be out for an August Cleghorn run. I'm headed to TX the first weekend and then Pismo the second weekend. I highly doubt the funds will allow a third Aug. trip. ( they really aren't allowing for the first two.

Bummer nobody seems to be able to make it this month
.
I've been over Cleghorn twice this week and it's been great. I just came from there and it was 68°F and raining on the way back
Weather is supposed to be getting even better (if possibly a bit muddy) this weekend.
