. what I am gonna need, partswise, is those two little straps that hold the front driveshaft onto the pinion yoke thingy. My stock ones are lying around somewhere in Truckhaven  Anybody know where I could get some of these guys? They have that kinda crap at pep boys, or would I just be better off getting raped at a junkyard :fire:

If you lok at this picture it shows the u bolts that were talked about taht are stronger. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=25701&stc=1

I know it is on a 44 axle but it is the same type of thing taht you want for your dana 35.

So . . . . Jefe and I should be headed up there this evening

You're out for this weekend right not the 24th - 26th?

I finally have some time off. If you guy's are going the week of the 24, 25, 26 June I can make it. I can get there Friday and leave on Sunday. I have no one to drive the motor home up there so I'll probably stay in a hotel. I'm too old for camping out. :D Who's in?

Now see I'm just sad!

I should get off my ass and join you guys this weekend, (no work today :D ) but I already planned on work'n on stuff this weekend. O'well, you guys have fun up there, and hopfully I'll see you folks on the 24th-26th ;)

Ok good,
How 'bout I claim a spot for us since i'll be up there probably sometime late afternoon.

Also, I talked to Colin ahwile ago and he won't be there until tomorrow morning so we were figuring out where to meet for a run on Sat. I was thinking either in the town of Fawnskin or at the Discovery center down the road from there. I'll find a ranger station and find out what trails are open/closed. From what i've been hearing, John Bull was open but a lot of others were not.

Ya, talked to Dave earlier and will try and get a hold of him later tonight to see what the plan is for tomorrow. I'm leaving my house by 7am so that should put me there around 9-9:30 ish. (8:30 if I was driving my Audi :))Going to stop at my friend's cabin and get situated first, then I'll be ready to meet up with you guys.

yah I posted in the other thread in drivelines that I saw one at Vatozone...damn place only had ONE of them though :shoot:

Josh, Currie should have them or you can also try Unitrax which is also in Anaheim ;)

Colin, I'll be leaving around 5-ish this afternoon so I figure you (or Jefe) can reach me until 7pm or so tonight...I don't know how good the cel phone will come in once i'm back in the trails but i'll leave it on in any case.

How about this for a plan to fall back on if for some reason we aren't in touch by tonight...we all meet in Fawnskin at 10am Sat. morning, the town is small so it'll be hard not to spot eachothers vehicles. And if someone is running late we can hang out for as long as it takes. Fawnskin is on Hwy 18 on the north side of the lake, just west of the Discovery center.

Jefe: I must have a crappy map because I don't see a 3n97 anywhere on my map. I do see a 3n93 which is the only thing that makes sense to the directions in your post. Here's what my map shows, i get to 3n14 from hwy 18 in Fawnskin then i'll pass Whittle YMCA on the left, then Hanna Flat campground also on the left then 3n93 on the left as well then 3n14 intersects with other trails at the Big Pine campground but no 3n97.
If you see this post before you leave Jeff, give me a call otherwise I'll do my best to find you guys.

Last post, just have a couple errands to run then i'm hittin' the road...see ya!

Pics

I have some pics from our pre-run up at Big Bear but I didn't whip out the camera until the end of the day when Jefe decided to play in the boulder garden at the entrance to Holcomb Creek trail.
Weather couldn't have been better, nice and clear with no wind. The dust was killing us all driving on the service roads to the trails but what can you do. Only major carnage was Jefe blowing a u-joint cap trying to back out of his high centered situation as you'll see in the pics. And if you consider my radio antenna being broken from a tree branch carnage then add that as well. :p

Sweet but short trip. Got to the camp site around 2am Saturday, and left camp around 8:30 am Sunday. John and I were waiting for Dave and Coling so we started down Holcomb but it was pretty washed out just before the second crossing, and would be pretty hairy running it backwards, and impossible the direction we were going. We met up with Colin about 10:30am Sat and ran Gold Mtn followed by John Bull. Lots of fun  On the way over to check out Holcomb creek and Dishpan we passed a Focus who was asking for some help getting his friend unstuck. So I followed him and got to use my winch to pull out a Toy Tacoma who had dug himself down to the frame in some soft dirt. I dragged him a good 15-20ft towards the trail before he was able to get up on top of the stuff. We got to Holcomb and the 4 kids were tired of sitting so we decided to play in the creek for a while. I decided to run the first obstacle of Holcomb and got high centered, so John gave me a pull back, and somewhere in there I blew a u-joint.

I got a few pics of us on John Bull. I'll see if I can post them late tonight or tomorrow, since I'm currently sitting in the Denver airport, on my way to Wisconsin.

Man, you get around don't you Jefe...Big Bear this morning and now Denver :p
I think the dust killed my CD player  but the radio works and how ironic since my antenna is broken...just can't win

Jut got back. Those are fun trails for sure. I still need to figure out what's going on with the front end. Today I sat in my friend's boat on the lake for a few hours, ate some lunch then headed home.
