I notched out the spacer almost exactually like ld did in his SAS thread. Just look at his coil buckets and mine are very close to the same. Yes with the track bar set up like in the pictures it wouldn't hit the crossmember, but when I turn the pitman arm hits it. So no good. I'm thinking about making a streight trackbar without any curve, but don't know.

O and yes. I got in contact with cage through the phone and he said they will send them out. That was friday so i'm expecting them on monday. I must say I'm not to happy with cage and there dealers so far. I've had a lot of problems with them.
 






here are some pictures from today. I finished the brakes and hubs. I also cleaned the place up a little too. Sorry I don't have much room for taking good pictures.

And here is my problem. See how close the pitman arm and track bar are. I should have planed a little better. I moved the axle so far forward I really don't have a better place to mount the trackbar mount.

When will she be able to drive under her own power? I'd like to see a side shot showing how far you moved the axle up.
 






Thanks. I just need to get a u joint with 1310/1350 so I can hook the drivshaft up and a couple other little things. I'm thinking like 2 or three days.
 












Well I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the rear shaft. I picked up a ne u joint today. Its a combination u joint for a 1310/1350. The driveshat seems to fit a 1310 u joint(correct me if i'm wrong). And I thought the pinion yoke on the full width 8.8 was a 1350. I went to see if the ne u joint would fit in the pinion yoke and the diameter on the u joint was to big for the yoke, but the lenght was correct. It can't be a 1330 yoke because 1330 measures a shorter length. So what would be between a 1330 size and a 1350. I have been serching this like crazy because i really want to get this thing rolling, but I can find nothing. Any suggestions???????????

It can't be a 1330 yoke because 1330 measures a shorter length.
Thats not right -- the 1330 and 1350 both have the same length (~3.625 inches).

The 1330 is the "in-between" of the 1310 and 1350 -- the 1330 typically has the same cap diameter as the 1310 but has the same length as the 1350.
 






but i dont think they have the same cap size. my explorer dshaft ujoint was the right width for my 9" yoke but the caps wernt the right size.
 






Sorry that was a mistake. I ended up having to get a combination u joint to fit 1310 in the driveshaft and the pinion on the full width 8.8 is a 1330r or something. the 1330r has the same length as the 1350, but and 1/16" smaller diameter. Its a weird size that is also known as a ford special or ford 9". Its an odd part and is going to suck when I break it on the trail and have to explain to a friend what I need so I can fix my truck. And its like $40 at Napa. Ill give the part number later when I have the paper I wrote it on.

O and I got the new trackbar built. Top side has a 5/8" heim and the bottom has a 3/4" heim with reverse threads so I can fine adjust like the tierod. Just need to pick up that u joint and through it in, get some shocks, and make a square front shaft and Ill be golden.

About that trackbar hitting the pitman issue, If you haven`t beat it yet ,All I can think of is a different pitman arm. My local machine shop guy claims you can bend pitman arms with no strength loss if it is done right, i.e. heat, bend, cool slowly in flux.
Perhaps a drop pitman arm, bent (properly)so it clears the trackbar but retains the steering geometry? It would stick out farther that way anyway.
I dunno, just a thought, might cause more problems..
Otherwise, I don`t see an answer other than moving the axle back, but that would suck right?

I think I have the problem solved with a different track bar. I just made a streight one with heim on either ends. It clears it when it sits level, but I havn't cycled the suspension yet so well see. Using a different pitman arm was my next idea. I was wondering if there are any places that make them custom. I don't want a drop pitman arm, Just one that extends toward the front of the truck more. Thanks for the input ld50. Your SAS thread was a lot of help.

Well except for the shocks(waiting for the mail man to come).

Here is how far I moved the axle forward. When I flexed it out earlier the tire hit the bumper, but i have a quick fix for that.

Awesome, I was just fixing up my rear pinion angle and it looks the same. The rules say same angle off t-case as into axle, even if it looks odd.
