I like to start my truck and let the engine warm up for about 5 minutes every morning. My truck sits to the right of the house, at the top of a slope/hill.
This morning, I went to my truck at about 7:20am to start it since I had a 7:30am meeting at the coffee shop around the corner. I went back inside, grabbed my books, my laptop, and did one last run through of needed items for the day.
I walked out to my driveway at about 7:26 and my truck was gone.
I looked to the right, down the driveway, and saw some big black shape. I dropped my bag and immediately ran to my tire-side-up Explorer.
I pieced together what had happened. The emergency brake cable had snapped/become disengaged, and my truck rolled down the driveway headed directly towards my across the street neighbor's front door.
Amazingly, when the front wheels hit the grass, the vehicle turned almost 80 degrees, avoiding the house entirely, but not avoiding the '06 Toyota Camry...
I am now a member of the rollover posse, and I never even went off-road.
Geico was amazing with their service (I've heard plenty of tales otherwise), and I'm now in the market for another vehicle. I really want another Explorer, but I only need a vehicle for about a year, since I plan on moving to Manhattan next summer. I might actually get a little civic, since I know there will be a market to sell it in come summer time.
Anyway, nobody was hurt, and at least we didn't have to call the home insurance adjuster too!

PS - Let's see who can get the closest to the dollar amount of the insurance check.... Closest bidder gets a prize!
