If You Had $5K And Needed A 4-Door Car,..........

In my expierance the bmws are better overall than the equivalent benzs except for the turbo diesels. If you want something unique and dont mind a 2 door the old 6 and 8 series are really cool, the 7 series no matter what year are real nice cars, a friend of mine gets a new top of the line one every other year, he started out with mbs but switched to the bmw and likes them much better, the new 760 is amazing.

I'd go for an SVT contour. You don't see many of them on the road because not that many were made in the 3 years of production (98-00). They are really nice cars and you could probably find one in nice shape in your price range. They were designed to compete with comparable german cars and I think ford did a really good job. I test drove one once and it had no trouble at all getting to 120 and handled amazingly at that speed.

They come with the Duratech 24V DOHC 2.5L V-6 complete with performance cams, intake, and exhaust, making 205 horsepower according to Ford. A 5-speed manual trans is standard with no option for an auto. EPA reported gas milage is 22/29 on premium fuel. Top speed according to Ford is 147 MPH.

We recently bought a Contour GL with the V-6 (same engine minus the cam, intake and exhaust) and auto trans. Had 34,000 miles on it and we got it for $3200  Even that car is pretty quick and is excellent for hard turning and braking. The front end is amazingly tight, you really have to drive one to know what I mean.

Anyways, that's my opinion :D

My choice would be an Accord. (I've done that before already.)

Then there is the 1994-1997 Ford Aspire... :p Most you'll spend on a mint Apsire is $2000. HAHA

i have a family member with a '91 ls400...she is expecting to get 200k miles easy.
its a fairly large car and the v8 is a good match. my favorite feature is the instrument panel. its super cool looking when you start up the car, kinda holographic, check it out if you get the chance robb.

I'm on my second and they're fantastic cars, but they are expensive to maintain.

Aight, let me get more specific, since I should have in the 1st place. :D

I want something semi-unique. I like driving something that you only see a few of a day. And yes, I know that sounds weird coming from an Explorer owner. ;)

I am just looking for something a little unique.

I love driving this 4-Door car. Smoothest Ride I have ever driven , with lots of room and reliability. Easy to work on also....(No Computer crap) :D

^^^^^^^^^^^^ damn Canadians!!! :p

My parents had a '90 or '91 (whatever the first year was) LS400 car, and to this day, I don't think I have riden in a car with a nicer ride. Truly a great car, and one I would love to drive.

Tonight, I am looking at Acura Legend Sedans, and although edmunds throws them a bit out of my range, I am finding a few in the $5-6K that look pretty good.

I'm not afraid, but I will tell you that car runs pretty damn smooth , without sensors and Cel problems....

(Course My X never has CEL's either?) LOL

1990 was the first year. I looked at them in 1990 but couldn't afford one.

They do ride nice and I agree, I've never driven anything I thought rode better.

look at Nissan they are super reliable and cheap to maintain im getting a 93 Altima for 2000 and its in really good shape, also nice looking car
can deal with a 5.0 anymore, gas its way too expensive =[
