I'm thinking about switching to AMSOIL...currently running Motorcraft, which everyone knows is a semi-synthetic.
AMSOIL actually sold me about 10 years ago. I have an '88 Ranger, 7.5" rear. Running plain 'ol Valvoline, I'd take a 2 hour drive down the Garden State Parkway...when I stopped, I'd feel the pumpkin and it would be hot.
Switched to AMSOIL per my bosses recommendation...same trip, felt the pumpkin...and she was MAYBE luke warm. DEFINATELY, incontrovertably, a MUCH better lubricant.
My father, till this day, says synthetics are a waste of money (he never has a vehicle more than 3 years or older than 5 years, so how would he know for certain...but he's actually an extremely competent mechanic).
My '88 Ranger went 273,000 miles before the motor went...and ALL I ever ran was regular Valvoline 10W30.
