I had this question a few days ago.

I know--:p::D

Actually, we are soon to find out. I'm building up the courage to ruin a set of caps. dangit, they were kinda pricy-I may paint them. They are in the blasted wheel picture
If it works, I want to make the center cap match the wheels, with black lettering

When I did the center caps on my mounty I tried to set them in the flow of hot air, in the hopes the surface would warm faster than the plastic.

nice wheels JT!!!! those look f'n sick! maybe i want them back.. lol jk. but for real, good work! love it.

I have a center cap somewhere from my 17" spare wheel. They may be the same as your 16" wheels. If it is you are welcome to it if needed.

Thanks Don

Well, I tried to heat up the explorer caps, since they seem to be made of the same material as the Marquis caps I found. I really want a mercury emblem on the wheels--

The experiment didn't work out. I will have to paint them.

I have seen spun aluminum marquis caps on ebay--

Just messin around-

...:wtf:...In the second pic, are those rims really chromed???

...I'm staying tuned in on this...

So anyway-I had to paint the plastic Grand marquis center caps

I think That Duplicolor " import auto spray" # 8800928 "Graphite Grey Metallic" with a coat of Dupli- Color "High performance wheel Coating" clear coat is a pretty good match for the smoked chrome powdercoating.
flash and no flash comparo--
They are not snapped in, so the fit looks off

Droool, smoked chrome. :)

Good stuff as always Jon. I'm stoked to get a sample of your handiwork on the Eddie before I come to Kansas with the Bullitt door.

Just got my Ford OEM billet fuel door the other day back from Jon. I scored it on eBay and then shipped it directly to Jon. He did it in "smoked chrome". I have a green Eddie Bauer so I wasn't sure how it would look on my ride, but it works well. No photos of it installed yet....just the photo he took just before he shipped it to me:

I finally have some of his handiwork on my Ex. Much more smoked chrome to get done later this year when I make the long journey to Kansas to get some help with my TMH. This door replaces one I already had installed which was looking worse for wear. I think I'll get it done as well as a backup. :)

What rims are those, They look awesome, got any installed pics yet?
