I have the desire to visit a certain ledge on Rusty Nail... and flog the zuk on it.

I plan to be in Moab late thursday night, and looking for a scenic trail on Friday. I am also staying for the rest of the week, to run with some of the zuk people.

You staying at the same RV park as Rick? If so, my reserved space is right across from his so we could find each other pretty easy on Thursday. How about you Jefe?

We'll be in Canyonlands also. I'm sure you'll recognize the trailer. :)

Jefe the Rusty Nail idea is a great one.... there may enough rigs going this time around that are capable of doing that trail to keep the size of my group down to a managable number. And I'll lock the beer cooler up until the end of the run :)

I'll be there Thursday for an easy Friday run, but I've done Top of the World about sixteen times... if anyone else is interested in something like Steelbender (it's had a loop added to the north side of the trail that adds several miles to it) on Friday I'd be game for that. If not, I guess I'll do TOTW again - if we do that Brian, would you be interested in taking the Rose Garden Hill path up to Top of the World? That would add a little bit of an extra fun factor to the run. Or even adding Thompson Canyon to that - check the book, you could connect Thompson Canyon>Rose Garden Hill>Top of the World into one long trail.

One other thing, I'll be leaving Monday going south out of Moab, and want to run Lockhart Basin (it ends south down around where Elephant Hill trail is), That will take all day (maybe camping at the end of the trail) and add a day to the trip. It is a remote trail and I don't want to do it alone. Would anyone that will be leaving south out of Moab be interested in ending their run with an extra trail that will take all day Monday?

I'll be at Canyonlands arriving sometime Thursday.

Are you talking to me or another Perry?
We won't be there until Friday afternoon so I don't plan on doing any trail. We might just go out and play on the little Lion's back or something like that.

My plan is to arrive Thursday and do a run on Friday.

I am dropping the truck off at SVO's house this coming weekend. It runs, but doesn't run like it should. Hopefully his expertise will have it at running at 100% come May.

Oops, my bad Perry, I mixed up the prior replies. It was Brian Kennedy that posted an interest in TOTW. I'll edit my post above to say Brian instead of Perry :)

Jefe, you may want to get ahold of Clint (HVAC Man) if youre interested in running Rusty Nail. I believe he's run it before and might be able to give you some info on the trail. I can't remember if he's signed up for the run this year or not, but he might be able to help.

I'll also be there on Thursday afternoon and am open for a run on Friday.
Can't wait to see everyone again!

I will be in Thurs night hopefully, down for whateva on Fri

this really sucks that this is during my finals!!! yep, my last final is on sat

OH my I miss one big run and I am a web wheeler now? hahaha
I missed some runs because the drivetrain conversion took me MONTHS hahaha still have issues.
The BII was/is will be built for wheeling, why? Because I love to WHEEL baby! (just need a cage)
I was planning to have the body mods and cage done by May but now I am shoooting for just some sliders and fix my issues......

BII next projects:
Full engine, cab, and bed cage, custom body mods (chop chop)
real long travel suspension ( fine tune my setup)
wheelbase

trailer :)

One run?

Dude, you was posting up left and right, saying "I should.. Naaa.." in other runs (ie, Truckhaven..)

You even admitted it in one thread! :D

Well the amount of time I spend here compared to on the trail in 2005 would be like 99/1% so yeah I admitted it! haha Its no secret!!
I always want to go on the runs! That does not make it happen! I want to race Baja in a Trophey Truck too..........hahaha
Moab I can do! It was a LONG drive from CA, but less then half from Denver...

But stage II of the big picture is now done on the BII, and once stage III is done, there will be a whole lot of trail time I hope!

Gerald,

We ran the new Steelbender the year we were out there to marry you, and that extra loop radically changes the nature of that trail. It is now somewhat more difficult than the Wells book suggests -- and a great fun trail.

We ran it from south to north -- supposedly more interesting that way. Start with the creek crossing:

Then some of this (repeat until the end of the day...)

Yeah, I ran it with the extra loop too after it was added. Steelbender was already one of my favorite mid-level trails and that just made it better - it's probably my favorite 3+ trail in Moab now. It's a perfect run - superstocker level Explorers can survive it with good driving/spotting and maybe a little help/strap once or twice, modified Explorers will find it perfectly suited to test their rig's abilities, and BigDawgs can have a leisurely day enjoying rockcrawling that doesn't rack your nerves and break your vehicle.

Good to see you on the board and wish you could make it again.... any chance of getting to the Attica run that's closer to you this year? I'll be at the Attica run too and it would be great to see you again.

I don't care, someone pick for Friday, as long as it has TOTW in it somewhere. I like Gerald's idea, since I will not be wheelin on Sunday.

I'd be in for running Steelbender Friday. I haven't run it since I was on 33's and a BL. I believe it was my first time meeting Gerald too. Should be a peice of cake now.

I'm also with Gerald on NOT running TOTW. . .unless maybe it was a night run. That is such a looong, uninteresting trail for everything except the loop at the top.
