I will most likely have my super stocker out there for the 06 run. I have been going to Moab with my stock/super stocker Explorer for the past 4 years for the runs (except for this year - mechanical problems kept my Explorer at home but I still attended). There are plenty of trails to keep a stock/ super stocker busy for several days. For the 3 years I have taken my Explorer out there I have rarely ran the same trail twice.

Just made my reservations for Canyonlands. Funny thing is I did it from the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Isn't technology grand?

Is there a group name that we are using to get camped near eachother?

I too have made reservations for a cabin at Cannyonlands.

I'm Super Stock/Modified and sure I'll have a great time!

I'll drop my wife off in SLC to visit her brother and his family and pick her up after.

i might be in for this....im trying to talk my dad into comming along with me. What all do i need to do reservation wise? (as in campgrounds, etc, i know about the forum user agreement)

If you are camping the Canyonlands Campground in Moab is a good choice. Several of us stay there. http://www.canyonlandsrv.com/

awesome, thanks rick... now i just need to find some 33s ;)

Bad news... The Branding Iron had a fire. :(

Good news... They're rebuilding and should be done in November :D

I left a message with info about our groups plans for dinner. I'll get back to them in a few months.

Is this suitable for minors? (6-1/2)

what is the branding iron? Bar? Restaurant?

I'd say it depends on the kid. It's a long day on the trail even when all goes perfect, and it can take awhile for us all to get served when we go for the group dinner. Some kids can handle that, some can't.

Branding Iron is where we have had the best luck with our group dinners. Other places haven't been as accommodating.

As long as he's legal, I'll feed him appropriately. ;)

Thanks

i only have 1 question, should i even bother trying to bring my 2wd X, with a 2" (shackes/f150 spacers) lift, and some semi decent tires.

and it will most likely have an aussie locker, full skid plates, some really nice tires(maybe depends on money between now and may) maybe new exhaust,

if i have all that think i can handle some of the trails up ther without getting stuck every 5 min and making everyone mad.

Alec from this site has taken his 2wd on many trails in the area. I know he has done top of the world and a few others as well. A locker is defently a must if you have a 2wdthough. There are always plenty of seats open on runs anyway if you decide you dont want to take your truck out.

So would you guys reccommend going if you are like me? Stock 4x4 sport with only a few performance upgrades, 31" tires and no trail experance to speak of? I just moved to Salt Lake City about a year ago and Moab's been calling my name ever since. Most of my "off-road" experance has been on ranch and backcountry trails in Texas so nothing like Moab. I'm down just for a good time and ride alongs if you guys think I should keep my rig off the trails. BTW how are the tent site's at canyonlands?

cool i didnt think i was going to be able to go with the 2wd. ill wait till april to sign up tho. if i dont have a locker by then im not going to go.

I did TOW in 2.5 WD, I had a locked front but only a drivers side axleshaft, and a L/S rear.

It was a bit tricky in spots, but make-able.
I also did gemeni bridges that trip, hahahaha

Plenty of fun for a locked 2wd out there.

so, i've never been to moab. i'm not much for the campground camping with pools and gift shops, i prefer to camp in the wild. is there any dry camping in moab thats near where everyone is going to be living for this weekend? i just like to camp under the stars with a decent sized campfire to drink a beer around after a days wheelin'.

I just signed up.

I've seen people camp along the road that leads to Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike etc... I think it's called Potash Rd.

Most of the area is surrounded by National Monuments and parks, they have primitive camping available, but you have to pay an access fee.
