Didn't he carry spares? Someone like Gerald or Ray might have them if they are there..

Wait jefe is there right? Didnt Jefe find a way to take the axle out of the truck and use the nut and part of the half shaft to hold the spindle together?

Im in SLC and have some.. but gerald should have some like stated. Until they can get to that parts store to buy/order more.

He was supposed to have spares brought by another member--they were forgotten
I guess he already bought one from Napa-they are sold out--

I think he snapped 3 so far--

If he busted three shafts, there may not be any more spares for him to use. Not only that, but when you start giving up your spares... you're bound to break one yourself:(

After 2 I would say it's time to stop:rolleyes: If it's just not your day, it's just not you day...give it up.

..and if they used FAT CAT's old spares, they were my old shafts, which were the factory ones, and had 130k on them...plus all my wheeling, it's amazing they lasted this long:eek:

It's late & I just got home. I sent 2 sets out there with Jefe, did he get them???

One set were pretty new & the other ones where older but still tight.

Steve, I broke yours a long time ago!:D

No- Jefe left my spare parts at his house :(

There is a long story to the 3:

The first one was my stock 130k CV, busted it about 2 or 3 PM Friday. No spare, thankfully Gerald had one.

Swapped CVs on the trail in 30 minutes, back on the trail again.

.4 miles later, Geralds CV goes out. Stuck the CV back together less some bearings and stuff limped it back to town.

Obviously, I have problem with my front suspension, I suspect too much travel.

I remove my shock stud extenders, we order 2 drivers side CV's and get them in early Sat AM. I give Gerald a new one back and install the other one on my truck. It wasn't very far at all into Fins N Things that the third CV goes out. That concluded the wheeling portion of my trip.

Slip it back together, drive into town. I got into go home mode which is the two ends of the CV and no middle shaft. One end in the diff to hold in the gear oil, the other end to keep my wheel bearings intact. I am rolling again.

I can make it home like that, will address my travel issue or whatever it may be and replace my CV with a heavy duty replacement from NAPA.

This will begin Wed or Thurs of this week.

Thankfully, I can drive home and don't need to take Gerald's spare.

Despite all of this, I have had a great time, did get to spend 6-8 hours on the trails and see some amazing stuff. I and others have plenty of pictures of the carnage.

Any IFS wheelers I'd appreciate your input on this problem- I will start a thread about it when I get home.

Just 1500 miles before I am home :D

I'd suspect too much travel too. When I was working on Karol's (ExplorerEB96's) truck, we ran into the same issue where too much travel up front could lock the CV and break it or the axle housing itself. Limiting straps would help.

Gerald tried to explain what we think the problem is to Evan. It is our opinion that there is something wrong with the drop cradle on the lift for the front suspension. Weither it was off to begin with, or was bent/missaligned on the trail on Friday, the front axle housing is off set to the right too far! The cv axles were not busted, they were seporated at the inner joint.

Evan, before you spend any money on new axles, do yourself a favor, break out your measuring tape and make sure the front differential is sitting square in the frame and centered from left to right.

Pretty sure he bought the lift off of a wrecked truck. I seem to remember him having made his own drop brackets b/c the Superlift parts were too bent from the wreck.
