I probably should of added there is about a three week period in July/August that this will NOT happen, due to the Jamboree's running the trail.

I normally hit it in late june, middle of july, August, and in September. Anything after Sept you can get crazy weather up there.

Who doesnt "want" to go?
Man thats a long drive.....

Mark your calendars!

July 22/23/24, 2005 is the last weekend before the Jeepers Jamboree and the Jeep Jamboree go through. I have a conference to go to that weekend.. So I can't do that.

July 15,16,17, 2005 is the weekend before.

So, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

"I want to go"

However unless by some miracle my truck grows a real axle under the front end and some other minor things (bigger tires, lockers, sliders, blah, blah, blah) Then I must Decline :o

I'm interested as long as it doesn't interfere with the Moab and Colorado run.

It doesn't - at least at this time.

me to me to me to me to!! :D

As long as my truck can make it. I hear that trail is brutal, then i hear of stock toyotas going through? i just want to run it and have a good time, if im going to be winched constantly and destroy my truck then ill have to decline.

I will have to see what my finaces look like, but I really want to go. This maybe my last chance to run the Con for a few years.

I'm a "maybe". :D

You're killin' me... the CO run is the week after. I guess I'll have to try and do both :D That's assuming we survive the 'con!

The "Con" and then colorado the next weekend! Your Nuts

I'm guessing you would do Co. on the way home?

Well, we could move it up one week.. But it's difficult to schedule in July, because of the 4th and the Jamborees.

Other choice is to run in August, or September. August in the beginning has more Jamborees running, and then we run into Labor day, which is another good time to avoid the trail.

My current run plan would be:

Day 1 - Loon Lake to Buck Island Lake, setup camp.
Day 2 - Up Cadillac Hill, back to Buck Island Lake.
Day 3 - Buck Island Lake back to Loon Lake.

I like that run plan. Get to run it both ways, and skip the boring part from the lookout to Tahoe.

I like that too!

We should limit this run to certain equipped vehicles if we want to make good time on the trail.

Yes, that's true.

Minimum vehicle requirements:

Gen I (TTB based vehicles) - 33" tires, rear locker
Gen II (SLA based vehicles) - 35" tires, front & rear locker.
SAS'd vehicles - Just need a rear locker.

The more suspension lift you have, the easier the trail is.

ALL (and I mean ALL) vehicles MUST have rock sliders, with front and rear tow points.

Spare tire is good, but not necessary. A good tire patch kit will get you normally to the Loon Lake spillway where you can call for service.

Extra gas is normally not needed for an Explorer/Ranger (the zuk, however does need it..)

There is also one other catch - you must carry EVERYTHING out, including your poo. I have the proper equipment to meet this requirement; however, I will be charging $5 for usage over the whole weekend (to defray the cost of the equipment and supplies)

Goliath - you could probably do this, but I'd recommend a better transfer case skid plate.
