...The 15 is closed at Cajon pass and travelers to las vegas are being turned around....
...I just seen the noon news report from Big Bear and it's a mess...3"-4" of snow in two hours and the only road in downtown is reported to have 6"-8" of snow on it and it is not being plowed...Citizens are doing traffic control and most all are stuck on the road...
...They are charging $150 to get your vehicle unstuck...
...Btw, the wind is blowing the rain sideways down here and the wind is coming off the mountains...We've already had 2 semi's slide off the 57 freeway at the anaheim pond this morning...
I finally made it home from Big Bear yesterday, and woke up this morning to more snow. We currently have about 6" at my house in Hesperia (elev 3680)...
I was watching the local news here earlier and Hwy 62 into Yucca valley is closed...blizzard conditions It's not too often they get snow up there, I think it's close to Boomers elevation. It's been raining non stop all day here, not real heavy but steady.
....Las Vegas just made the news on the Weather Channel...The Las Vegas airport is closed due to White Out conditions...The snow in Vegas is suppose to continue till the a.m....
...The weather channel says we are going to get more of the same on friday but local news says we won't have another storm till monday...It looks like there may be plenty of snow for lockers this year...
Talked to my brother a few minutes ago and he said they have 18-24" of snow at his place in Lake Arrowhead. Hope the grapevine is open tommorow I am headed north for the weekend.
It's supposed to snow four feet overnight at Big Bear Lake.
It rained like crazy here today. My friend's horses took a swim in Imperial Beach. These pictures are of the ranch next door. My friend's business partner is the guy in the first picture. http://interactives.signonsandiego.com/slideshows/index.html?collection=Rain and Flooding
I was thinking of taking a day trip on Saturday through Oraflame / Rodriguez Canyon, but don't know if I have any time this weekend.
.....That doesn't look like any fun at all...The local news said San Diego to Big Bear are going to still get hit hard tonight before the storm moves east...We have mud slide alerts in the burn areas as the hills are already showing cracking...

Its not looking good. I'm leaving Friday afternoon, so hopefully it'll be open.
Roads are pretty bad. The mountains here are short on plows, so the main highways are probably all they're doing tonight. Our road didn't get plowed for 36 hours for the first round... and we've had about two feet more since then without a plow in sight. Nobody with sense is going out right now without 4wd, high clearance and chains on all four. I love this weather, but it sucks that some people will be losing their jobs over this due to immobility .
The good news is there are supposedly at least 8 more contracted plows heading up to Arrowhead tonight and tomorrow, so it should be looking a lot better very quickly. The bad news is the highs may be below freezing tomorrow with full sun... meaning a lot of black ice overnight into Friday. When you come up, be safe .
Went out and shot some video of all the snow in the surrounding mountains out here. Came down pretty low, just about every peak in the Coachella valley got some snow.
