Tbars Project "X" begins

I just read this entire thread... and it's 1 a.m. What the heck am I doing?

Anyway... nice to see the whole build-up lol. Mine will never get that big though. I don't like the way they look that big, or with SAS's.

At first i thought this was going to be a compliment...

Don't get me wrong, It's a nice truck, Just not to my taste.

If I wanted a truck that big I would have traded my explorer for my brothers '86 Bronco on 37's.

To put it another way, Out of all the big explorers on this site, This is my favorite. It's built right.

So this thread is 640 posts long, and you read the whole thing just to tell us you don't like it? You're on the wrong site or at least wrong section of these forums if you don't like lifted explorers!

...Actually, I am flattered by his comments and I admire his open minded and non demeaning criticism even though he wasn't being critical at all, just honest...:salute:

...This truck is built specific to have fun in and can go places a full size Bronco can't...It is at least 6" narrower in width at the wheel track than a Bronco and being it has 4 doors, it is much easier to load up friends to share in the fun....

...There are much better X's on here with Bronco axles and other Bronco parts on them...I just like my X better than a full size Bronco but be assured, my truck will have Bronco parts on it one day...:D

...There is always something better to be found all the different vehicles...This Forum is proof of that...How many variations and options are there here of basically the same vehicle...Mine is just one, of many but is still unique in it's own way..

...Now, if you said something like "You can have more fun in a Bronco than a Ranger", I would definitely say you were off base...:p:

...Again, thanks for the compliment...:biggthump

...Btw, it is sill pretty much stock as far as the front and rear axles go...Dana 35 up front and 8.8 in the rear...;)

At least someone gets my point. The width of the bronco is exactly why I kept the explorer, and the motor in the bronco is toast...

I like the truck, He did a great job building it up the way he wants it. It's just when you stuff full-size axles under them, they look funny, in my opinion. That's why I like it, He's still running stockers.

Besides, If I go that big, it won't fit in my garage lol.

Shen, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend. To each his own. You actually did state "... it's 1am. What the heck am I doing?" I was just being my usual sarcastic self! I'm always saying things bluntly, as I see them! I've pissed myself off many times reading a thread on something just because it caught my attention only to realize that it's now way past bed time, and I gotta be up in 4 hours! :)

...I can just feel the love in this Forum...:D

...I do the same thing and read it the next day and wonder who edited my post...

...Back to business....

...I found a 94 X that was garaged at the junk yard...It had the newest looking cloth seats with lumbar support that I had ever seen on a first gen...I wasn't going to get them as they are not on my list now...I hope someone sees this and goes down and gets them...It also had brand new looking headlights, corners, and chrome grill...;)

...I managed taking small parts from it...

...My old rear hatch glass seal was lacking in it's job...

..So I snagged this one...It has so much life in it the glass didn't latch at first...:biggthump

...They were grey with the small checker pattern...A nice set of tan seat covers and they would be perfect...

...The X read 2700 miles on the odometer and it was clearly garage kept...

...aw no, not yet...:(

...The card board under neath is for the steering leaks...I am waiting on the AGR steering pump, I have the steering gear and hoses...Out of the blue I have a CEL and have to do smog this week...I am swapping out broke trim parts and some other stuff while I wait for the steering pump...

Oh yea, the truck is sitting on the broken RA still...

...I will have it back up to it's old self by this weekend I hope then I need to get back to work so I can start on upgrading the front shock set up before I really am able to go on a run...

Psh! Who needs shocks?! :p:

Those new lights are a huge improvement over your old ones, and now people to the side of you will actually see your turn signal flashing.

Are your shocks stud top???? I might have a pair of bilsteins laying around in the garage, 8.5" stroke 5150's...

...The front, front and rear dual shocks , were installed installed by the previous owner and they were improperly installed...The shocks were not even parallel to each other and were randomly mounted...It might have looked decent till you really looked at it..

...After I got the front end good enough to get a proper alignment the problems showed up...The Coil hoop design would work with a full width SAS but you wouldn't need dual shocks now aday's with shocks like Fox and others...In short, the dual shock, coil hoop that is on here should have never been installed...

...After getting it aligned from this /--\ to this |--| , the rear front shock mount would hit the brake caliper while turning, pushing the fluid out of the caliper, up the brake line...I would then get brake fade...The other new problem would be limited steering...

...Eventually I will do a different single shock setup and I may just leave the hoop on there for a future front end mod...:shifty_ey

...I would so love to do coil overs on the front end of this truck...:hammer:

...I already have shock hoops mounted...:D

...After I get done fixing all this current stuff, that is my next goal...;)
